Howie allowed that pick to be an open discussion/debate while on the clock, which is pretty ridiculous considering they played the same position. Those decisions should be sorted out predraft..

Howie deferring to others on that one pick simply meant he didn’t feel strongly between the two players. If Howie loved one over the other there wouldn’t have been a dialogue.

100%

The only discussions that should happen in a draft room in real-time should be trade options, as you could get something you can't reasonably prepare for.

I guarantee Sidney Jones is a Howie pick. A scouting director doesn’t have the power to draft someone coming off an Achilles tear in round 2. That decision has to come from the top.

Where are the posters who told us all we were overreacting last week and that with a win this week all will be right?

Right here. You live your life whatever way you want.

They are not "As a team" ready to take on the best team in the NFC yet.  But they've got a chance here to recalibrate and take on the two best teams in the AFC North.

San Fran lost all their swag yesterday if it's true. Find out today.

I’m fine with debate between other position groups because there is some game theory involved — drafting the player at the more valuable position or the one with fewer quality prospects etc. The draft unfolds differently and they can’t be prepared for all scenarios.

If things don't improve vastly defensively (and as a whole), Baltimore is dropping 40+ on us. Fortunately we have some time to correct things before then.

Niners will put 30 on us despite their injuries. Steelers will put 30 on us. Ravens 40. Packers and Saints? Gulp.

Isn't having issues with mechanics? Who's he trying to kid?

No they won't. Why? Because we have Doug and Schwartz.

Do you think they picked Roosevelt and Churchill haphazardly?

Carson needs to get better. Doug needs to get better. The whole damn team need to get better. But words mean nothing.

What's your point?

Relax . This is a WHOLE new team. Nothing like the team 3 years ago and really NOTHING like the team last year.

This Eagles roster is not that bad. It's objectively still above-average. That's really worth repeating. If Wentz is playing average football, we're at least 1-1 and still possibly 2-0. So if we start out say 1-5, we have interesting assets to sell at the trade deadline.

When you have bottom 10 QB play, even above-average roster talent looks bad. Look at the Bears; they barely won both games and required Swift to drop a TD.

If Wentz plays better, we can still make the playoffs. Of course, I'm very skeptical of this. There's something seriously wrong (mechanics, coaching, trust, etc.)

This is the right answer. Young talent night be lacking, but you can win with the current talent. Wentz just isn't.

I have to give Doug and all coaches a lot of credit. It has to be awful to go on radio and TV to answer questions about why your team sucks.

Yup. Bad read. Bad throw. There wasn’t a place he could put that where it wouldn’t have been played by a Rams DB.

I think that is unquestionably part of it.  But still, the offense looks thoroughly disjointed.

I wonder if Doug was just naive thinking they’d come out flying.  Both DC and LA called a ton of easy, 1-2 read throws to get their offense going.
Our offense has been 2 completely different gameplans

Haha OK bud. I like your optimism here I really do. I'm not meaning to be so negative. And I'm not saying this team is going to get humiliated next week because I'm pretty sure they won't be. But to say they won't because of Doug and Schwartz? I mean Schwartz? Really?

Looks like we picked a great year to be bad. With everything going on, COVID, Social unrest, the NFL's political environment, I have never been this disinterested in the Birds and Football in general. I was doing some work in the garage and kind of half watched the game, and early in the 4rth I turned it off.  I have been a rabid fan for 35 years. This year, I have watched zero pregame, zero highlights and Zero parts of any other games. That's not who I was for 35 years, I watched every minute of every game, and tons of analysis, and other games. Sundays for me was all about Football from 11 AM till Midnight.

But with the nonsensical political climate, It has driven me to a much lowered interest.  Meh.   Yeah I still like the sport of Football, but it's no longer just football.

Now - the Eagles in general:

From what I did see, we still have the same old issues we had the last three years:

  • Injuries
  • Carson doesn't trust his WR's - and misses throws/ Opportunities
  • Doug gets away from the run to quickly, and is getting outcoached
  • The defense is bad- Like not sure we stopped the Rams or the Football team (UGH) more than once or twice each game.
  • The base of this team is getting old

Like I said it's a good year for us to be bad- and they could be historically bad. It's heading in that direction. All we need is Doug to Make Groh or Stoutland his D coordinator and the cycle is complete. LOL

Those throws are all the Rams ever do. It’s paint by numbers.

Washington’s offense really wasn’t very good except in the red zone. If Wentz didn’t give them short fields they probably score 13 or so points.

Just a thought. Maybe getting laid regularly doesn't agree with Wentz.

My theory is the baby in the offseason has a lot to do with his early season struggles and in sticking with it

To be fair it's a pretty good theory. Let's hope you are right. Because for all the hate Wentz is getting right now, the best thing for this team is that Wentz is the guy.

Do you believe Howie watched tape of all the guys we drafted? If he believed those players sucked, do you believe he would have picked them?

I'm sure he watched to get an idea of who they are.  But in the end if both choices stunk and he's choosing between 2 of them on Joe's board...

No coach is going to go on the radio and start publicly blaming his QB.

The only thing that came close last week was Arians with Brady. Brady is so secure that it doesn't matter...and Brady wasn't even playing poorly, he was just playing ok.

If that is the case, why did the Rams look really slick and in tune? And plenty of other teams too.

A bit of a distraction from Doug, for me.
