Starting field position is a huge problem

I don't watch any other games but do other teams call as many punt fair catches inside their own 10 yard line as frequently as the Eagles do?  It seems like 2 out of 3 drives start inside their onw 10.

Gotta wonder how bad it would have to get for Lurie to start making changes. I mean if they win like 3 games Lurie couldn't just ignore that. Something drastic would have to happen. Since 2012, every majorly disappointing season has ended in Lurie making some kinda change. Reid fired 2012, Chip fired 2015....

Winning a SB changes things. It may have been 3 years ago but still. It's the first one AND they squeaked into the playoffs last year AND could have won that game if not for the dirty cheap shot.

I honestly don't think Howie or Doug get fired. I think Schwartz just doesn't get a new contract and is let go at the end of the year. Maybe someone in the drafting department gets let go but that's it.

Hey guys, quick question. I just put on NBC and what is this sport that's airing right now? Is this some new league? It's certainly not the same sport the Eagles and Bengals were playing earlier today.

I noticed that too. These fools are playing a breed of football where the qb throws the ball downfield and these players they are calling receivers are downfield making tough catches. Seems like a gimmickly style of play. Won't last long.

I’m not sure we’ve blocked more than one play decently for Scott.

Peters was getting beat badly. I think Lane was even beat a few times

Better to be lucky than good.

Zero forced turnovers from the defense again today where just one probably would have been enough for a win even with the two that Wentz had. That will continue to be the biggest weakness of this team. Their inability to force turnovers is pathetic.

Eagles O: 19.66 PPG

Eagles D : 29 PPG

Not good on both sides.  Not scoring enough and giving up to many points.

You’d think we would have forced a single fumble on our 8 sacks...

I think Slay had 2 almost INTs

But I agree it would help the team if the defense could get some turnovers

True statement.

It's worth looking at all the .500 or worse seasons...

1997: 6 wins, coming off a 1st round playoff exit.  No big changes...there was optimism about Bobby Hoying as the new QB heading into 1998.

1998: 3 wins, coach fired.

1999: AR year 1.  5 wins, turnarounds much, much slower in the NFL at that time.  No reason for any changes.

2005: 6 wins, SB hangover, Mcnabb injured.  Not firing a coach or challenging a QB 1 year post-SB.

2007: 8 wins.  Mcnabb's seat getting warm.

2011: 8 wins.  AR's seat getting warm.

2012: 4 wins.  AR fired.

2015: 7 wins.  Chip Fired.

2016: 7 wins.  Doug year 1.

2020: <7 wins.  I don't think we are going to be at the point of anything more than seats getting warm.  If they win 6 or fewer games again in 2021 (which feels pretty likely), then heads will roll.

Come on guys, silver lining here is we're only around $80mil over the cap next season with these players. 😅🤦🏻‍♂️

Egregious cap and coaching disaster sprinkled in with sub par drafting and this is what you get.

Please put a "Do Not Resuscitate" on JP after this year.

Foles threw 5 tds off the bench come back win only 3 counted tho

Another true statement.  Was thinking the whole game that they would at least luck into a turnover.  Pretty pathetic really.  Schwartz plays scared most of the time.  Although, I will give him credit for actually mixing in some blitzes.  Can he please retire the sticks coverage forever wtf???

Scott and Clement have shown nothing this year.  I wasn't a fan of all the Boston Scott praise after last year.  Yea, he put up some nice numbers at the end of the year but to put all your #2 running back eggs in his basket was just a poor decision.  He was handed that role with ZERO competition.  Yet another draft loaded with running backs who would be more than capable #2 backs and potential starters and the Eagles can't come away with any.

They could call up Warren and Killins and probably see better results than they are getting now.

Clement has been particularly forgettable. He has 9 carries for 27 yards, 2 receptions for 2 yards. I am not sure if it's a problem with him or the offense but he doesn't look anywhere near the player we saw back in 2017.

That was not OPI at all.  Jenkins and the TE had a lot of mutual contact and Jenkins flopped off him like a fish to avoid a flag instead of playing the football.  He continues to be hideous in coverage.

Hell of a catch. If only we had receivers that actually put effort into a catch

Welp.  I’m willing to now admit my 8-8 prediction is way off.  With what I have seen and the injuries, I’m going with 5-10-1. I know we can’t change our prediction, but I am adjusting my expectations.

5-10-1 seems like the smart money based on their matchups.

Pretty sure Jenkins flopped to try to get a flag. DBs are getting better at flops to get OPI

Tied for 2nd worst team in the league.

Somehow the Jets are still worse than us. 😅

He's not.  It sucks because he was such a huge part of that SB team and showed serious promise.  Sadly, injuries have gotten the best of him and he isn't close to the same player.  Time to unattach ourselves from SB52 and get rid of players who don't help anymore.  Clement is #1 on that list.

Eagles are an 8-9 win team like they’ve been the last couple years, but the turnovers will make them much worse.

This is from that same link on page 418 about Gerry's abysmal coverage on the TD.  If you scroll down a bit you'll see this.  Now, I would be very surprised that this is actually Wentz's mom being this critical of Doug publicly.  Doug said when he was hired that he would be calling the O plays so I don't think the statement that Reich was the one calling the plays is accurate.  However, I do think all the input he had into the O (which we have determined since his departure was way more than we thought at the time) made Doug's job loads easier.  I don't doubt that Reich designed and put together most/all of the O plays.  The O then seemed more creative and way less predictable, even with Doug going 'Andy' sometimes in his play calls.  Now and for the past few seasons, the O has lost that creativity and has been rather mundane.  One has to wonder how much input Doug had on play designs when Reich was here and if hiring all these O coaches this year was his way of trying to get the O to be more creative like it was then.  Though, too many chefs in the kitchen is rarely a good idea.

IMO, the issue with the O this season is a combo of O scheme, play calling, Wentz's poor play and lack of proper personnel due to both injury and the FO's inability to bring in quality younger talent and relying too much on older/injured players.  Just fixing one of these issues isn't going to be enough.  They need to realize that fixing one is just a start, the first step, and it's going to take at least a couple seasons.

But I think the difference here is, if you don't make a change Lurie has to look at the current landscape and say "Ok, we had a bad year but things are still generally headed in the right direction."

I don't think he can say that. The organization is regressing... drastically. He can't look at this thing and say minor tweaks salvage this.

If he values an arbitrary "3 years isn't long enough removed from a SB to make change" than seeing his franchise utterly collapse before his very eyes, then his priorities are twisted.
