They need to change the rules. They completely killed onside kick

Didn't the Eagles propose a rule change whereby the "kicking team" could elect to have a 4th and 15 deep in their own territory?

I’m not interested in lowering the bar at WR or grading on a curve.

I mostly threw in the part about Wentz as a dog whistle to some pigeons out there ......

Yes they did — and Doug still wasn’t interested today

Just because I’m feeling feisty, Greg Ward was a blown coverage away from finishing with 7 catches for 43 yards on 10 targets.

He runs the right route and has reliable hands.

He's small, slow, not that quick, doesn't separate, and doesn't make anyone miss.

He's a WR who will be a 10.0 ypc or worse, but will move the chains...at times.

That makes him our #1 WR.  That makes him not roster worthy on some teams.  That makes him a slot WR on some teams.

That tie is gonna be costly in April.

Minnesota and Houston will be out of that picture by then.  Denver too.  Atlanta will pick up some wins.  Redskins will descend into this picture.

We are better than Jets and Giants.

Some random statistics:

Corey Clement is averaging 3.0 ypc with a long of 7 yards.

Goedert leads all receivers with 138 yards.

Greg Ward is averaging 7.7 yards per catch.

The players on offense to average >5 targets per game active (in order): Ertz, Desean, Ward, Goedert, Sanders

Carson Wentz QB rating is 63.9  Opponent QB rating is 108.2.

I’m not as concerned about the draft pecking order as I am about roster construction.  There isn’t going to be money to sign FA next spring so the draft takes on even greater importance.  My way-way-too-early wish list is a game breaker like Chase or Waddle, an edge rusher, and an actual NFL LB who can get sideline to sideline and disrupt an offense

3 NFCE teams in the top 10 and you know the 4th isn’t far behind

I told you Ward was going to be our #1 or #2 WR this year.

So you want 3 things that the Eagles haven't managed to draft in the last decade out of 1 draft.

So Doug could punt?

I want a deep threat who can't stay healthy with spotty hands, a QB who won't play, a couple defenders who won't play, and some more athletes who can't play football.

I do see it as a foregone conclusion at this point that the current coaching staff has reached the end of its cycle.  The offense looks stale even with the additions of Scangarello and Mornhinweg, and I think Schwartz’s biggest problem might be that he can’t evaluate talent nor adjust his game plan when it isn’t effective.

At least it’s was good to see Wentz using his legs today to make something happen.  I think the coaching staff wants him anchored in the pocket, and that just isn’t who he is.

We’ll see if we ever have healthy receivers. Regardless, defenses couldn’t care less about him. It isn’t worth the effort to defend six yard routes, so that disqualifies him from being a no. 1 or 2 receiver.

If we lack the money to sign any impactful FAs then the only other option is the draft.  Yeah, yeah, I know.  Most of us here don't trust Howie to draft properly.  Hopefully Lurie takes the keys away and turns them over to someone who is better.  In any case we're going to need extra picks so being sellers at the trade deadline is the way to get some extra picks.

So far the early estimates are it's a weak DE draft, but good on WRs and OL, both of which we'll need.  We have an injured left OT who is still a question mark.  We have a C who might retire if he thinks we'll be in rebuild mode for the next couple seasons.  We have a RG coming off his 2nd major injury in recent years.  Most of them are near or over 30yo as well.  Would be nice to have a competent athletic LB, wouldn't it?  We still need a #2 CB and another S wouldn't hurt since our starters are a converted CB and the other has shown to be slowing down the past couple seasons.  Yeah, Wallace is in the pipeline, but that's only 1 out of 2 that will need replacing by early as next season or at least within 2 seasons.

Would be nice to have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds.  I'd be cool with Chase or Waddle.  I'd also be cool with an OL or CB.  The 2021 draft will be even more crucial to our future success than usual.

Overtime should be 15 minutes by the way. No reason for it to be 10.

There’s no reason it should end in a tie tbh

Yeah, it should probably just go to a second OT.

Although in today’s game it was fitting both teams should leave the field still winless

With the exception of a corner on a team that I can't remember there's not been much mention of any Covid scares....

A few changes I'd make this week...

-- Fire Press Taylor. Something has to change; it's not gonna be Doug yet.

-- Ditch the heavy 12 personnel offense. Going to be necessary anyway with Goedert being out, but take this as an opportunity to space out the offense more.

-- Start Jordan Mailata at LT. Peters is done. At least see what you have there so you can either move on or move forward.

-- Replace JJAW with Deontay Burnett. We're not at the stage yet where the team would bench Carson; right now, you gotta surround him with players he has chemistry with. I don't personally believe JJAW is this bad, but he obviously has 0 chemistry with Carson.

-- Get Davion Taylor reps in subpackages. As with Mailata, an inexperienced player will only get experience if you play him. We know Gerry and Riley are not long-term answers at LB.

Want to see something crazy? Go watch the very first drive Wentz ever had in the NFL again.

Difference is night and day.

Remember the time we were all talking and said it was a bad idea to go into the season relying on three rookies during a pandemic offseason, a 34-year-old DeSean Jackson that doesn’t stay healthy, a player who showed nothing last year in JJaw and a slot receiver in Greg ward? And now we’re back to desean being hurt, relying on rookies, a bust in j-yawn and our slot receiver is currently our best receiver like last year at the end of the season.

Who would’ve saw that coming from a mile away. But hey it was such a smart plan to wait until the draft to add wide receivers cause you know desean and Goodwin are such reliable guys. Don’t worry at least we have jeffery coming back 🙄

Not that that even matters at this point because I don’t know what’s going on with Carson Wentz. I’ve never seen a player go from playing at such a high level at the end of last year to just being God awful with his decision making and his mechanics. I gave him credit because he didn’t quit and he got the Eagles into the end zone when they need a touchdown. But that First interception would’ve picked off or knocked down if you didn’t get deflected. And then his second picK he might as well just hand the ball off to the bengals and said here you go because that was awful. It’s like when he got hit by Javeon Clowney it has completely changed him. I hate saying it but maybe that hit has him thinking more about the pass rush and trying to survive. That’s one of the only things I can think of to see that type of significant drop off. It doesn’t help that our offensive line is a makeshift unit that might be the worst unit we’ve had since 2012. And I don’t know how you leave Jason peters out there, he was the worst lineman today. It wasn’t even close.

Everyone knew that but Howie. It's disgraceful regardless of the reason, but Caplan and Mosher are adamant they let that December run convince them Wentz can grow and win with young guys because they'll rally around him so they had no interest in veterans.

It's why I said at the time I wanted them to lose out, I Fing knew last season would delude them. And I stand by the same thing this year. They need to get a top 5 pick. I don't care if they go on a little mini win streak this season at some point, nothing good can come out of winning games this season. Nothing. This team has no shot to win a SB, what's the damn point?

2017 was truly the outlier because Howie has been the same old pre-Chip Howie since. Bad move after bad move, wrongly evaluating his own guys, thinking he's the smartest guy in the room. They thought they were so slick drafting all those speed guys in the draft too. It was so amateurish. They clearly just took guys based on speed as an over correction of 2019, they didn't even try to hide it. Trying to be KC Chiefs 2.0. Real talent evaluators don't bother with over corrections, they just take the most talented player. They don't get cute.

He's gotta Fing go. Each year he stays he will cripple us more and more.

They need to start the rebuild of that defense last year. The fact that we have not a single linebacker on this team that I would consider worthy of being a starter in the NFL is embarrassing. That could be the worst unit as a whole in the entire NFL. I would have to go looking at each individual team but I will be hard-pressed to find another unit as bad as the Eagles linebackers.

This was a discussion back last year and in February-may that this teams young core was not nearly as good as people thought or good enough to be a contender as currently constructed. howie and the eagles were Playing this highwire act for the last couple of years with a roster that was aging and just depending on older players without infusing the proper amount of young talent due to poor drafting and trading away picks due to poor roster construction.

it shouldn’t of taken the first three games for people to realize this team that the roster constructed this offseason was never good. If they stayed healthy and older players didn’t completely drop off they might have won nine games but really they were staring 8-8 in the face. It was fools gold at the end of last year. But the people who came out and said this team as currently constructed was not very good after the draft got told we were chicken Little. No we were realistic about what we’ve seen in a regression of a team and how if you don’t infuse good enough young talent you tend to see a drop off cause older players tend to not stay healthy or Declined rapidly. This regression has been going on each consecutive year since that Super Bowl.

The fact of the matter is Carson Wentz with his play at the end of last year covered up a lot of warts On this team. Now that he’s not playing at that same level that he was in December you’re seeing all the warts that the Eagles have.
