For me, it needs a fresh set of eyes from outside of the current Eagles sphere.  I don't trust anyone internally in the Eagles to make that call at the moment

I'll hang in there a bit longer with hope. It's just how I'm wired. This last game though was pretty pathetic. On the bright side I did get 5000 steps during the over time pacing back and forth in the house.

Love the positivity bud but what is it your holding hope for?

Yes, something is up with Carson.  Doug has taken an offense that was dynamic with movement, shifting, attacking to the most predictable and easy to defend offense.  Our running game, regardless of the RB in the game, is the same concept almost every time: stand next to Carson in the shotgun and run left or right of center.  Defenses don't have to decipher really at all.

Doug did try a few times to roll Carson out on naked boots, but somehow we just let the DE run free to him each time.  Completely free so Carson had to to turn, set, and make a throw. As soon as he turned he had to evade.

So when I say Doug is ruining Carson, it is this complete lack of diversity that I speak to.  Carson plays better with a movement rhythm.   Doug has effectively eliminated thos from the offense.  Horrible coaching.

I'm convinced the concussion knocked something loose in Wentz's head much like Atonio Brown

You probably should trust your QB Doug but right now he's not giving you many reasons to.

Complete turn around. Win games get to the playoffs, Carson turns back into the player we know he can be and some key players start stepping up.

We all know what's going to happen.  The Eagles are going to find lightning in bottle some time during this season and get to 7-9 or 8-8 again putting them in the middle of the pack when it comes draft time.  Taking them out of the running for a top prospect.

Also want to reiterate what a bad draft pick Davion Taylor was.

I'd guess part of that is because he isn't very big.

And that he didn’t play high school football and is still very green. He’s a development project.

I'm with you.   Football is a long haul game that has a ton of ebbs and flows, especially for a team in transition.

This season may ultimately be lost, but not yet.

Well I mean I admire your positivity and your hope.

I’m not sure the best case scenario is anything to root for.

The sad thing is at the moment we have no good, young players to watch develop.

Reagor and Dillard are hurt. Hurts developing in front of our eyes means bad things for Wentz. JJAW is a disaster and certified bust. Sweat has long term concerns about his knee. Barnett somehow still is young but he doesn’t have a high ceiling. Herbig and Pryor are in exciting prospects. Mailata in all likelihood would be awful at LT. Hightower and Watkins might qualify, but Hightower hasn’t really shown much.

It’s ugly.

Could be.  Look at what concussions have done to Nolan Patrick's career.

This is worst case scenario and I completely agree with this.

The Taylor pick may have been questionable.   However, if we want to win now,  the Hurts pick was a huge waste.  That's an impact slot for a guy to sit behind your recently paid franchise QB (who is going nowhere).

Watching Gerry, I'd at least like to see Taylor cover a TE.

Do you believe that any (or all) of this has to do with who he is throwing to or this OLine turmoil?  His receivers are not a well developed group right now.  Thrash and Pinkston would be a massive upgrade.  And JP is done and Pryor/Herbig can't touch Seomalu/Brooks.  The totality of this offense is not very good.

our coaches are loyal to a fault. see: Sproles and JP. Gym shorts is far too loyal to guys like Gerry, Mills etc

When Tommy Lawlor calls out the coaches and FO, you know things aren't good.  His blog is good, polite but the undertone is there.  Who can you trust?  The lifer in the FO, or the coach that won the Super Bowl? Or neither

I just think unfortunately this team has hit a stage where they have to suck to get high draft picks and for major changes to be made. Another season where they win say 6 to 8 games is not going to result in major changes.

And on Drew Brees. He has a good QB rating, but without Michael Thomas playing, the whole NO system has more smoke and mirrors than before in it.

I didn’t even know you wrote this but i was thinking along the same thing. I mentioned it i my The good the bad and the ugly that the hit and concussion cause by clowney might just have Done more damage then we know about. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if that’s something that’s going on with him. It would make a lot more sense then he just forgot how to play quarterback and is severely regressing. I would also add on to what you said, a traumatic Life changing experience where it shook him can have a lasting affect on how you proceed with things and interpret what you are seeing out there. It doesn’t help if that’s occurring having a poor offensive line that he might not trust. It compounds that issue if that is indeed going on.

The issue with this is that it’s a diagnose-able problem.  And while I know the faith in the training staff is 0, I’m sure he’s been evaluated for this.

And while there is also enormous pressure to ensure that Wentz does not miss time this year, which would then give way to hysteria about his durability...but if he can’t go, he can’t go.

If this were the issue, I have to think they’d be able to diagnose it and put him on the shelf.

If we hear about this in the offseason...Wentz struggled due to post concussion syndrome...then they really botched it.

i like Wentz but that doesnt explain the wild innacurracy.

That's the point many miss here.  It's about the totality of the system being operated and we are very compromised.  No one could have pictured Greg Ward as the #1 receiver or a concrete footed Jason Peters at LT on August 1st.

Cant be that bad, he led a game tying drive with 20 seconds left(in spite of dougs play calling) and then drove them down to put them in field goal range in over time.

He's just not the same. There has to be a reason for it.

Carson just had a huge run that put us into easy FG range get called back by a (IMO soft as charmin) holding call.  Regardless, you have to take a chance.  Even an incompletion takes 8-9 seconds off the clock, at minimum.

As I said last night, there is no logical reason why Carson is playing poorly.  Theres no reason why this offense is now a black hole where it doesn't matter whose playing, its just broken.

This scheme is a disaster right now.  The fact that they think its a good idea to bring in Hurts and run an RPO tells you all you need to know--they should just run the wildcat and just embrace the fact that theyre clean out if ideas

We've all seen much worse not get called
