i like Wentz but that doesnt explain the wild innacurracy.

He's not free from blame, but it's hard to argue that the system that he is operating in is severely compromised with talent and experience.

The Taylor pick may have been questionable.   However, if we want to win now,  the Hurts pick was a huge waste.  That's an impact slot for a guy to sit behind your recently paid franchise QB (who is going nowhere).

Oh no doubt the Hurts pick was a huge waste but that pick was so bad that it's overshadowing just how bad the Taylor pick was.  The Bengals had 2 rookie linebackers play yesterday and play well.  The Eagles took Hurts at pick 53, only 12 spots before Logan Wilson (8 tackles, 1 INT)  This is just showing the players taken between Hurts and Wilson.  I would take every single one of them over Hurts.

54. Buffalo Bills – AJ Epenesa, EDGE, 1 sack

55. Baltimore Ravens – JK Dobbins, RB,  9 carries 78 yards, 2 TD's  We're fine with Boston Scott and Corey Clement

56. Miami Dolphins – Raekwon Davis, DL, 5 tackles on the year, no need to get younger at DT here in Philly

57. Los Angeles Rams – Van Jefferson, 5 catches 76 yards (half a career for JJAW, 4 came against the Eagles)

58. Minnesota Vikings – Erza Cleveland, OT, Would have been a great addition to questionable Eagles o-line

59. New York Jets – Denzel Mims, WR, injured, would fit in perfect here

60. New England Patriots – Josh Uche, EDGE, IR, another perfect Eagle

61. Tennessee Titans – Kristian Fulton, CB no need for corners here, 8 tackles, 1 sack, 1 int

62. Green Bay Packers – AJ Dillon, RB 7 carries, 31 yards.

63. Kansas City Chiefs – Willie Gay Jr. 2 tackles

64. Carolina Panthers – Jeremy Chinn 27 tackle

65. Cincinnati Bengals – Logan Wilson, LB, Wyoming

Wilson is the prototype linebacker in the modern NFL. He’s outstanding in coverage with 10 interceptions over his college career.

103. Philadelphia Eagles – Davion Taylor, LB, Colorado

Taylor is a safety, linebacker hybrid that will find a role in sub-packages. He should be a special teams ace.

Just watched Jacksons hit on Burrow.

Too bad no one else hits like that.

I think they saw how well we developed Gerry into an instinctive LB and figured we’d eventually develop Taylor into a star...

The sad part about that TD was -- even after he knew he blew his assignment -- if he looks at where the WR is running he should see where the ball has to be placed and take that path.  Simply turn your head around once you reach the end zone and it's a rather easy INT.  Instead, it looks like he figures he can run faster than a football thrown by an NFL QB can travel.  Heaven knows if he gave any thought to what he would do once he got to the WR.

Its not the talent.  Many teams are moving the ball and making plays with less talent

Its time to admit that the league has caught up and maybe surpassed Doug

Just look at the signs:

--bad secondaries are locking up even our good players

--a large chunk of our plays are sniffed out ahead of time.  Screens are pointless when half of the defense is already standing and waiting for the RB

--Lurie keeps bringing in "help" for Doug. Ask yourself why he would do that.

--Wentz looks lost for no tangible reason.  How many times in the broadcast yesterday did they say that Wentz was just searching for someone who can get open?  If he was comfortable in the offense he wouldnt need to do that.  Hed be making quicker, more accurate reads

--Our playcalling is way too predictable.  There are very few times I dont guess run/pass correctly just based on formation

--this is the weakest point bc you cant exactly trust it, but we've heard many opposing defenses say that they knew calls

Our offense right now is predicated on Wentz hitting on the 1, maybe 2 dynamic plays we have per game.  Its on Wentz to execute, but its on the coaches to give him mote than 1 chance at a big play per game

I agree that the Hurts pick was so bad that it hid the next one.  Taylor is essentially Gerry, but faster and he may be more instinctive.    The problem right now....two impact slots wasted!  At least play Taylor and see what happens.

I think Doug needs play calling taken away. He hasn't helped his QB out and his decision to punt was football blasphemy. I just don't know who to give it to

Taylor needs to go. The regression of Wentz is on him and Doug(and Wentz but I'm talking about coaching). Maybe steal away Ravens or Chiefs or Hawks QB coach

That tie is gonna be costly in April.

Haven't watched Falcons to know what they need but they're stuck with Ryan for at least 1-2 more years I think

Giants are going to tank. They just got a QB so what would they go for? Would they go for another?

Vikings are stuck with Cousins I think too. Do they need weapons or Oline?

Denver may fire Elway and go full rebuild

After watching sunday night I was struck by how much air they put under those passes, especially rodgers

5 used to throw too flat on those as well. Muscling the ball instead of touch

The issue with this is that it’s a diagnose-able problem.  And while I know the faith in the training staff is 0, I’m sure he’s been evaluated for this.

And while there is also enormous pressure to ensure that Wentz does not miss time this year, which would then give way to hysteria about his durability...but if he can’t go, he can’t go.

If this were the issue, I have to think they’d be able to diagnose it and put him on the shelf.

If we hear about this in the offseason...Wentz struggled due to post concussion syndrome...then they really botched it.

I had a pretty good concussion a few years back. Fell 12 ft landed on my head and neck. I had to take a week off of work but after that I was cleared to work. I would honestly say it changed me long term. I can do my job but my memory is shot and I'm a lot more "emotional" than I used to be, I'm also not as "quick" as I used to be. The first several years afterwards I got really, really, angry at the drop of a hat.

I guess it's possible that it changed things about him that aren't "diagnosable" ?

Of all the busts I've seen in an Eagles uniform JJAW is the bustiest.

I'm sure that's not on Howie though

If we lose next week, Howie should be on the phone trying to get as much as he can for Cox and Ertz.  That would be a good start.

This pretty much sums up my thinking on the offense as well.  I think back to the great run the Eagles had during the early 2000s, and the team really lost a lot when Brad Childress moved on as OC to become head coach in MIN.  Losing his input really impacted Andy Reid's play calling and game planning.  The offense became stale and other teams knew what was coming.  Fans used to complain loudly about Andy's in-game decision making, but he was better at it than Doug is now.

On defense the team really needs to move on from Schwartz's scheme.  He was brought in originally because the Eagles didn't trust Doug to run the entire locker room -- rightfully so.  When I watch the Eagles play I see no ability to adjust on defense (they had no answer at all for the Rams, and they've allowed 25 PPG to WASH and CIN -- two bad offenses).  The other huge problem is talent evaluation.  Gerry shouldn't be on an NFL field, Mills plays well downhill but has no clue what to do even 5 yards past the LOS, and Maddox on the outside was really sad to watch yesterday -- Boyd was just abusing him before he went out.

Part of the issue has to also be our front office. The bizarre actions this offseason with the coaching staff indicates that we have structural issues. Unlike the Cowboys, our structural issues are hidden from the media and mitigated by an improbable super bowl win.

It’s not a surprise that Andy is enjoying the best success of his career working for a different owner.

No, I sound like a guy who wants this team to turn it around as fast as possible and be competitive again.  You can hold out hope to make the playoffs after an 0-4 start with this coach, QB and team's history of injuries.

I think being in sync with the GM is the big thing there.  When they moved up from 27 to 10 to draft Mahomes my reaction was "WTF?"  That was a first-year GM and his head coach identifying talent and doing what was bold and necessary to make a pick that shaped their future.

No, you sound like the owner of the Pirates. I wouldn't give up hope on Wentz at any point this year of not turning it around. Same goes for coach. That said I'm not sure how you deal with constant injuries.

So, with Goedert hurt and Ertz traded, who plays TE?

I don’t think Doug deserves to be fired if the team looks like this again next year around this time then yes do it.  That being said he should be stripped of play calling and HOWIE and SCHWARTZ need to be fired.

JJAW. I hear they're leaning on him as is, so why not try leaning on him more?

I doubt DP or Howie are gone

thry need a real OC. Doug is in over his head without reich obviously

but the players love and respect  him
