Using that logic you'd think he'd take an average team and make them good.

I don't even think he does that. Carson Wentz, in his current form, is not a net positive for any team. He's the guy who's going to do some really amazing stuff and then completely erase it by turning the ball over and making boneheaded plays.

As for the rest of your post, I agree. He needs a ton of help around him to mask all the things he's so bad at.

He needs a run game. That’s what he needs.

Final grades for the day:

Overall: D

QB: D.  The brilliant first 20 minutes prevents an F.  Last year in the losing stretch, Wentz took heat for not being heroic or elite enough to win games they lost despite his best efforts.  Today, he was a primary reason they lost.

OL: F.  No analysis needed.

WR: C.  The added speed was evident and appreciated.  But the group clearly is not ready for prime time.  While Wentz did hold these guys back, the heralded additions/returns were low % targets.  Reagor and (especially) Hightower still need more seasoning before they can be considered strengths.  Desean...anything they get from him this year is a bonus.

TE: A-.  They get demoted from A+ for Ertz’ game sealing drop, but Goedert was our best player on the field, by far.

DL: B.  Solid game, but they didn’t do enough to make a bad qb uncomfortable at the end.

LB: B.  See above.

DB: B.  See above.

ST: B.  Missed long FG, great punting, good coverage, early muffed punt that didn’t hurt them.

Doug: C.  Today, he had a bad roster, a non viable OL, and a bad QB.  How was he supposed to coach up a win?  Not possible.

Schwartz: D.  His defense overmatched a horrible offense in the first half.  Then halftime came and coaches made adjustments to put their fingerprints on the game.  Once again, his D folded against a horrible offense in the critical moments of the game.

Way too many debbie-downers in here! Got some speed at WR and additions to the secondary.

I'll say 10-6.

@Connecticut Eagle

The speed at receiver didn’t do all that much today and we got beat by the doormat Redskins 🤷‍♂️

That was a terrible excuse for an opener.  A lot of blame will go to Wentz, and rightly so, but this loss goes on the OL shuffle and not being able to keep the QB comfortable in the pocket.  Once Rivera and Del Rio saw the OL, they started to dissect it and the feeding frenzy got to full swing.

Peters looked slow and old.  Multiple run plays to the left side he could barely make contact with the man opposite him, and when he did he couldn't maintain contact.
Herbig... not ready.
Driscoll... not ready.
Mailata... not ready.

Then the RB situation... without an OL to actually create a crease, its hard to get a real sense of things, but there were a bunch of missed blocks, but Miles was sorely missed today.

Reagor... ups and downs.
Hightower - disappointing... missed a few that he absolutely should have caught.

Wentz... after getting knocked around a bit, he was just off and seemed to be struggling to make a big play.  Those long bombs before the half... gotta connect on those.  They were there.

As for the defense... they played pretty well, all things considered.  All 3 TDs came on short fields.  But, they needed to hold to just 3 on one of those INTs.

The OL missed a vet like Wiz today; not great, has limitations but has played the games to understand what is going on and can be plugged into 2 or 3 positions at a push. Silly contracts = silly roster decisions

Just a guess here, But that Injury that kept Wentz out of practice last week, might be something serious like a sports Hernia.  By Halftime, I noticed he lacked his normal Athletic Mobility, was missing throws high ( cant step into his throw) and had only 2 moves under pressure, either step up, or duck. He had zero lateral movement ability, and escaped nothing. On top of that, the play calling was suspect,  they absolutely refused to roll him out/move the pocket, which is something you do when you have a line that is getting killed.

All of that makes me think his injury is something like a sports hernia.

Philly Browns are trash terrible drafting and soft puss injuries

Despite the fact that WR is still a weakness and we have no edge rushers, get ready for an entire draft dedicated to the OL this April.

BTW I would like to take this time to Thank Lane Johnson for waiting all offseason, and picking 2 weeks before the season starts to have ankle surgery to clean out an injury from last season.   Typical Eagles move.

Frankly if that were the case then I highly question why the Eagles had Jalen hurts inactive today. If wentz has that type of injury then i need more than just sudfeld active as that’s a significant injury that could get worse and he not be able to finish. Then you are down to just sudfeld. Seems to me if it were that bad hurts likely is active

Wentz seems to get rattled when he's hit. I guess most QBs do, but his mechanics really just completely fall off. How he still has such severe mechanical issues in year 5 is beyond me.

Maybe 2017 was the fluke, and Wentz is just an above average QB at best.

It appears Pete Carroll finally realized Russell Wilson is a stud. I think they’re the best team in the NFC.

Between they and the Saints IMO.

Don’t forget to thank the training staff that allowed Desean to make the same mistake.

Wentz doesn’t have a sports hernia.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit.  Something was off that's for sure.

Vinny Curry, I'm guessing he tore his hamstring.  The way he crawled off the field and then was helped by multiple trainers tells me he's done for quite some time.  Time for my boy Ostman to get called up.

JJAW...didn't get 1 target.  Scary Terry looks like he's going to torture our secondary for years and oh last I saw DK had 95 yards and a TD.

I wonder if he did little to no training in the offseason, so he didn't even have the chance to see if his ankle would flare up. Then he gets to camp, starts to move around, and boom. Ankle is messed up.

I’m ok with a draft of a bunch of olinemen. I was ok with taking one at 53 this year. Legitimately they could need a new center if Kelce retires, LT depending on how Dillard comes back and plays, lane and brooks aren’t young anymore either. I’d be more than happy taking two olinemen early. However they really have to address DE as well. I’d also say corner.

I agree with your mindset but it's also the Eagles.  They went in to last years opener with 2 tight ends.  Their roster management is just head scratching.

Possible. However I would also argue this offensive line As currently constructed, might be the worst line we’ve seen since 2012

As you and I have brought up numerous times, the lack of young talent put on display full force today.

They certainly don't help, but a good bit is on Wentz independent of the line.

I just get a lot of bad karma vibes out of this organization these days.

It started a couple years ago with players ripping Wentz behind his back.

Doug telling his coaches they'll be back, then mandated by Lurie and Howie to fire them(per McLane).

Dispute with Peters then caving to his demands

Dispute with Ertz that got heated this past week

Drafting a backup QB in the 2nd round

Changing the medical staff like 3 times in the last few seasons

There's just been a lot of weird crap going on. Did that have a direct impact on today's loss? I don't know, but that's not even my point. It just feels like slowly an organization in 2017 that was known for being rock solid and incredibly sturdy is starting to show gradual cracks in the foundation and maybe not coincidentally the team has been gradually regressing each year.

I feel like Thailand is a position you could get away with that and adjust accordingly. However quarterback you don’t want to be scrambling for an emergency quarterback

add doug to that list

Don’t disagree. He did not play well at all after the 17 point lead. Summer thinks that might be he was thinking about the pass rush instead of thinking about getting the ball out to receivers and getting the ball on the mark down the hill

Doug- F

The fact he refused to run the ball even when your up 17-0 is an F grade. Then you see your line getting killed and you refuse to Block or even chip your TE to help your oline.  Same old Doug with predictability. First downs are play action, followed by a 2nd and long delay run or screen. Redskins knew it was coming and ate it up today. Doug said during camps he wanted to go in the direction of the 49ers with play action passing. Well the 49ers run about 50+% of the game to set up that play action so he failed in that part of his plan as well. Doug did ZERO adjustments today which makes me give him an F as well.
