Time for him to go "do some nice things out there and be in the right position"  Best way to grade a WR.

I bet he does a great job of lining up

Lane's just resting .... RIGHT?

Please tell me Lane's just resting.

He's among the toughest (if not the toughest) guys on the team.   If he can go, he'll go.

Well, thank God Arcega-Whiteside is good to go.

Good to go to IR?

To the bench?

Maybe go to 7-11 to get some slurpees for the team

Well, the injury report is a little bit shorter, I guess.

Not really cool seeing 3/5th's of our "starting" OL on there.

May we never see "see other page" injury reports ever again. Amen.

Reason #1: In baseball, why do stolen bases not count when the defense doesn't even cover the base, or hold the runner on?  It's called "Defensive indifference", because the other team didn't care.  On that play, they knew what was coming and didn't care if he got 14 yards, because he needed 30+.  They played way back, let him run, and rallied to make the tackle way short of the sticks, forcing a punt.   Him running the ball on that play, played into the defense's hands.  That's what they wanted him to do.

So, after that awesome 14 yard run... it was 4th and 20.  Hardly a highlight.  He didn't even get HALF of what was needed.

Reason #2: Statistics.  When you have only 5 carries, one major outlier skews it.  Rather than talking "mean average", let's talk "median" or "mode"?

5 carries for 26 yards... 14 long... on 3rd and 2 time zones...
So, the other 4 carries are for 12 yards... only 3 ypc.  And 2 fumbles on 5 or 6 touches.

436242135_ScreenShot2020-10-06at6_58_53PM.png.d30991ec1435126ecae49acfa6b1b0ac.png

Do you want to call this a loss of 8 yards as a run, rather than as a sack, which is how it was recorded?  That would also dramatically drop that ypc mean average.

A business has 10 employees.  The highest paid employee gets $1,000,000 a year.  The other 9 get between $35,000 and $50,000.   That makes the 'average' salary (mean) $145k a year (assuming all 9 are at the top of that range making $50k).  What are the odds that a newly hired employee will ever see even $100k annual salary?   Is it slim or none?

So, that's why that 5.2 ypc average is hollow.  Take away the run that the defense gave him that ended not in a first down, but in a punt (aka, a win for the defense) and that drops dramatically to 3.0 ypc.   On the flip side, if he was running for first downs, converting 3rd and 2 with a 3 ypc average, I'd feel very different.  Point is... the experiment isn't really working... yet.   Maybe it will pay off, but so far, I don''t really see it yet.  Ball security issues, low average per touch.   I don't see the allure.

Ah so kinda like all the people around here that  say "the Eagles are in first place!” But there record is 1-2-1. Sounds like the stats beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

this is the best response ever!

Watch the first 2-3 seconds of the TD pass to Fulgham. The safety on that side of the field makes a beeline to Ertz who is also covered by a linebacker.

Ertz helped make that play happen.

I’m not saying he’s still at a pro bowl level or a future hall of famer but damn there’s plenty of other things to hate on in regards to this team.

How about that Derek Barnett?  @HazletonEagle  :P

he was good on Sunday. And actually beat an OT for a sack. A starting OT even! Hope he keeps it up. Loving the DL production so far this year.

Weird how they are better when guys are covered for longer than 1.5 seconds, right?

   No.  Not quite, at all.   Nice move of the goalpost though.

I'm talking about a meaningless stat, and now you are going to win-loss records and playoff seeding.   Yes, playoff seeding is more important than a yards per carry mean average.  If you can't see that you are creating a false equivalency, then I can't help you.

Great analysis and counter to my points though.  Create a false equivalency and pretend that your point still stands.  It doesn't.  It had no foundation.

How pissed off were you when Ertz caught a two yard pass from Foles on fourth down in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl? You must have been livid at the play design there, huh.

I’ll allow Doug to pull it out the next Super Bowl we play in.  He hasn’t been catching 4th and 1 this year

That was an 11-yard TD pass that he caught just inside the 5-yard line — a slant against single coverage where he was going upfield while being tackled ..... but sure okay — if you think what he’s been running the past few games is the exact play design — my bad

No, that was a 2 yard pass to convert on 4th down on the Eagles' side of the 50 on 4th and a yard and a half...  on that same drive.

That would be an improvement for him over last season where he was getting in the way of Goedert running a route and catching a pass.

Oh relax bro meaningless padded stats happen in every game, it’s apart of football. Take it as you want to.

I prefer to leave that.  The point was that that padded meaningless stat was put forward to defend Hurts' impact.

Dude, I don't want to see that!   The halftime shows are getting way too raunchy.

Every damn day people complaining we didn't get jefferson lol. Absolutely ridiculous I swear. I wish we had drafted him so he could have 3 catches for 20 yards for 4 games and you all complain we don't have any speed to open up the field

That was the nicest pass Wentz has thrown all year.  Talk about "dropping a dime".  Beautiful.

Pretty impressive for those two vikings WRs as cousins has been pretty bad.
