The speed is impressive, the diving toward the fake and being way out of position is the tough part to watch.  If he maintains his gap and watches for the option he may prevent the first down.  But we know this is the type of stuff he has to learn

Fran thought the issue was Sweat not playing contain, while Taylor’s gap moved because of the pulling guard.

Even if that is 100% on Taylor, I can forgive it for now because he's a rookie and he's raw.  (even veterans make mistakes like that from time to time)  But, I won't forgive it with Gerry, because he's not a rookie, nor 'raw'.  He's been around plenty long enough that he needs to know his responsibilities and he needs to give maximum effort while he's out there.    I saw maximum effort from Taylor to recover.  I did not see maximum effort on a play that Gerry was not fooled, but still just whiffed on making the stop and seemed to lollygag over to miss sealing the edge on Jackson.

And just another reason why this team would be foolish to think they can get players back and be competitive.

Orlovsky said it was an elite throw. Solak said it was impressive but it was wide open and there’s like 4 QB’s currently playing with enough arm strength to make the same throw across their body into a huge window so it wasn’t elite

Ok get him in here, we need to have a long drawn-out discussion over this

How dare they debate the term "elite" outside of this Blog?

I take issue with something that Garafolo said there...  He called Alshon Jeffery the team's "#1" WR.  He hasn't been that since 2018.

The reality is, they can, there is 11 weeks? Left 10 games.

Guys who could come back and contribute:

Goedert, Ertz, Seaumalo, Peters, Lane, Reagor, Sanders, Pryor, Djax

No offense, but this Offense looks drastically different with even half these players back.  Beating San Fran on the road and being in the games of Pitt and Balt (2 of the AFC's top 5 Teams)  while playing your 8th,9th,10th and 11TH Olineman, WR #6th and 7th, TE #4 playing significant snaps and roles?   Yeah, this team could be drastically better with just Seaumalo, Lane, Reagor, Goedert, and Sanders back.

"Minor calf strain" for Alshon. Guess we'll see him in a month.

Every Fulgham catch.  The plays that I really like are:

34 seconds- Fitzpatrick just bounces off of him and he gets serious RAC.

52 seconds- catch in traffic, in stride down the middle of the field

56 seconds- sideline catch

1:26- catch/RAC against Ravens

1:32-  WR screen

What stands out to me is he doesn't hesitate to get upfield, has great body control and uses his hands.  One of my gripes with Hightower is that he's a body catcher and he seems to just go down when he catches the ball or when he tries to make a move, he doesn't look elusive at all.  He looks sluggish much like Torrey Smith.  Fulgham plays with a different energy level than any other WR the Eagles have.  He plays aggressive, runs aggressive and catches aggressive.  It's a very OBJ in his first few years attitude.

I still dont see Alshon playing a snap. The trade deadline is Tues. Lets see if Alshon all of a sudden is put on IR after that deadline passes.

Lets go Hakeem Butler, lol. Show some TE magic these next few weeks, lol.

Lane was a top 3 OT, playing RT, in our SB year.  Also, and I don’t care what @justrelax says, Lane eclipsed Peters as a pass protector long before anyone will admit, yet the offense thrived with him at RT.

In this passing league, you want 2 stud OTs.  RT doesn’t need to be limited to an unathletic grinder.

If they still think Dillard can be the lightning quick slick pass protector they hoped for when he was drafted, then Mailata won’t be wasted at RT.  We’d have bookends first the future.

You don’t care what I say? I am wounded to the quick.

This team is a 14-18th ranked offense. the proof is in the pudding. Being the 4seed gets them the 5 seed, or the best wild card, or getting there ass beat and drafting early 20s instead of 8-13

Yes, I know "bUt HoW dO wE kNoW HoWiE wONt BloW thAT PiC" Its common sense, that theres a better chance to hit on a higher pick so save the argument

And it's just as likely if we were to get healthy we could make some noise.

My most sincere hope for this season is that the Eagles in the midst of this dumpster dive of a season have struck gold in a few areas...

Sometimes doing a deep dive into the dumpster, you can come away with a relic of invaluable worth, its rare but it does happen.  Hopefully Mailata is such a find at LT, even at RT, and I would be overjoyed.   Add to that finding a legitimate "X" receiver (not proclaiming Fulgham yet) would be a massive find.  Not invaluable like a 10 year stud LT would be, but for this team, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack.  They just suck at identifying WR talent.  And, maybe, just maybe our new WR Coach can mold him into a legit starter in this league.  That would fill two HUGE voids in this offense for the foreseeable future and limit the necessity to make moves there for 2021-2023 or longer potentially.

In that case, long term 'solutions'...

QB - Wentz
RB1 - Sanders
RB2 - ???
X-WR - Fulgham
Z-WR - Reagor
LT - Mailata
LG - Seumalo
C - ???
RG - Herbig?
RT - ???|
TE - Goedert
Slot - ???

If by some miracle, Hightower can develop a bit more and actually MAKE THE CATCHES, he could play "Z" and free up Reagor to be used more creatively in the slot occasionally and be used like Deebo Samuel to an extent.    That's the makings of a pretty good offense moving forward.  They'll need a RB2 desperately, Center and RT become issues for the future, as Kelce is nearing the end and Johnson's starting to rack up some injuries each year.   But, even for 2021, if Kelce and Johnson return with Brooks... that gives the Solid OL for the immediate moment, with some time to develop players behind them. Driscoll, Herbig, Prince... though I'd expect they might need to address it in the draft, they could focus more on BPA (at least offensively).

The flip side isn't quite as rosy.  The defense needs some younger DL to step up - Cox and Graham are nearing the end.  Jackson is really just a band-aid.  LB is a black hole.  I'd love to see Taylor and Bradley step up though, so maybe there's some hope there.   The secondary doesn't look great moving forward to me though.  Wallace might be the only piece 'for the future' and we've not seen him a ton.  I did love that draft pick though, so I am hopeful.

Driscoll is a future LG or C, his arms are too short for OT.

Dillard might be able to move to LG, Mathis had a pretty good career there and he wasn't huge, it's different leverage in a phone booth than out in space.

Fulgham is for real, hand catching, high pointing balls, there are 10 year vets who don't do that as well.

Dillard will never be a LG. He struggles with power against DEs. He'll never be able to handle 300lb DTs.

If Mailata hits, Dillard is a backup LT. The good news is that the following option is on the table: extend Mailata in the off-season and trade Dillard. Too many teams have bad OL and Dillard would still be on a rookie contract for 2 more years, + 5th year option. We'll have suitors.

Mailata is going to have a good game tonight, because the Giants don't have a good EDGE. Their DTs will eat against our guards though.

Has anyone who has been paying attention (I havent) noticed how much 12 personnel weve been running?

Im wondering if the Goeddert/Ertz injuries have forced the Eagles to back off of the extreme usage of 12 personnel and if this has coincided with our offense having more success

I don't want Alshon to play a snap.  I wanted him gone to start the year, swallow the extra hit now and don't let it push forward to other years.   And they reworked a contract freeing up money this year... hmmmm.... maybe they will move on from Alshon as soon as they can now.  Such a shame, but that's why he was available prior to 2017 for a relatively cheap 1 year deal.

Disagree, I think healthy, this team has the talent. I think the coaching however is not up to par on both sides of the ball.

I would have agreed with you until I watched our last two games against Baltimore and the Steelers.  We were right in it for both games.  If 2 or 3 of our injured guys were back, I would say there was a good chance we win both of those games.

I gave up on Alshon, before last season. I never had any unrealistic dreams of him contributing much if any , last year nor this year.  I gave up on Djax around week 6 last year, and have the same low expectations of him actually making any significant contributions. Same can be said for Peters.  It's like living the Sproles situation over and over and over again, again and again.

This team like it or not, will go where our young WR take us. We need to see if Hightower, Watkins, Fulgham, Ward and Reagor can improve and be the core of our wr group for the future. .

Peters at RG would be an improvement to RG, the problem is he wont stay healthy anyway. ANd no, I'm not taking Mailata off the field. He stays at LT.

When Reagor comes back, this offense will be on another level.  I have very high expectations for him.

Backer who would look good good playing for birds , Nick Bolton, I'm guessing 8 to 20 area rd 2. He can run cover and hit, navigates the traffic well too
