I'm not doubting he's a smart guy, but he just makes some stupid Fing mistakes that a 4 year veteran shouldn't be making. His body language was atrocious today, and this is coming off of his first off-season uninjured. I want to like the guy, but I'm about done with him. Sad to think that he more than likely hit his ceiling in 2017. He needs to get the ball out quicker with this OL. Some of it may be play design not doing him any favors. Wonder what his avg tome is compared to Brees.
September 14, 20205 yr I have to be honest... Would it be a bad thing? Play Hurts and let's see what we have there. I love Wentz and I'm still not out on him but I'm out on this team. This is a bad football team. Time to rebuild for the future.

September 14, 20205 yr Not sure he was hurt but I will say that if he does go out with an injury again and misses a start or more, they need to go with Hurts. Let Suds be the one to step in mid-game if needed, because his small amount of experience should allow him to more ready for that role, but if Carson has to miss a game or more at some point, I think he see what Hurts can do.

I really don't see Doug going with Hurts so long as Wentz is healthy and creating a QB controversy unless we get to late in the year and the season is really going south. Regarding the bigger picture of this team, I'm really not feeling this is a championship caliber team (not a knee jerk reaction to yesterday's ugly performance - I've been feeling that for a while now). When you look around the league we are no where near the Chiefs, Seahawks, Ravens, Saints, etc. - mostly due to the lack of upper talent (that is on Howie). Our best players are getting long in the tooth. This team kinda reminds me of the Phils in the years immediately following their World Series title in 2008 where they had a roster that was weighed down by overpriced aging vets that they were hanging on to thinking they could make "one last run" with. I'm afraid to say it, but it might soon be time to start purging some of those players and finding a GM that has a real eye for talent to rebuild.

He continues to make the same mistakes with sailing passes over the heads of his receivers and taking unnecessary sacks rather than throwing the ball away that you might expect from a QB in his 1st or 2nd year ... not a QB entering his 5th season. See I'd agree with you, except the last 4 games down the stretch last year he was pretty damned good with garbage at WR

He’s not quite as hot/cold as Foles, but he’s similar in that regarded. At times looks like one of the worst QBs in the league, and other times looks like one of the best. It’s frustrating as hell.

I don't think he will either but I think he should if things go how I think they'll go the next few weeks. This team is not even a play off team in my opinion. It has way too many flaws and on top of that injuries. I felt before yesterday 9 wins a a stretch and a play off position would be determined by a wild card. It's simply not a good team.

Bet you weren't feeling this way after the first 25 minutes? The team has flaws, the biggest being the play calling yesterday. Empty sets with Herbig and Mailota against that defensive line? Too many plays that take too long to develop. Quick outs, slants, one step and throw with someone going down the sideline so he can throw it out of bounds while in the pocket is what was needed. More running plays, with heavy sets so the line that was not cohesive could just run block. Carson did dumb Carson things that we wish he would grow out of, but the coach lost this game. So much inexperience on the line and at WR, and he draws up that game plan? Shameful and disrespectful to his team.

September 14, 20205 yr As I always said, a QB will develop bad habits when he's pressured play after play. And when a QB experiences injury after injury, those bad habits happen faster. But Pedersen isn't doing Wentz any favors by dropping him back 56 times against a very good pass rush line and getting him out of the pocket occasionally.

Doug Pederson has had bad coaching games, but this one was clearly his worst. So many unnecessary times going for it on 4th down when his QB and offensive line couldn’t hold up. Calling so many plays to the rookie receivers and abandoning both the run and the TEs when he frankly needed them the most. Both he and Wentz don’t seem to understand there are times you have to take the loss, and punt.

I agree......I don't think Pedersen considers the pressure on the defense he causes when the offense isn't performing. This was one of his worst games. He completely ignored the field position aspect of the game. They had given the redskins 2 TD on very short field and the long FG miss and Ertz's drop put the defense in bad positions again. And Wentz was to blame for a few of those sacks......

There were at least six time’s between turnovers, going for it on 4th down, and blown opportunities the offense left the defense in a precarious spot. If the Football Team were actually good the Eagles would have lost by far more.

They just neutralized the cowboys pass rush by quick throws and actually committing to the run. It was a horrible game plan. Now we cannot even blame it on Groh 🙂

The game day thread got deleted but if you went back to my first post of the day in that is was simply "carson is going to get killed today” referring to the o line that was atrocious. The 17-0 score was a mirage. They hit on one big play that set up one of the scores. And Once Washington potatoes took away the tight end, carson had no chance. Remember back to all those threads that says he targets ertz too much? Well, he still does. It’s his first and often his only read and if it’s not there Bad things happen.
September 14, 20205 yr He has a brain hernia. He's an idiot. i supported this guy for 5 years. I'm done. I want Hurts in as soon as he is ready.

If one guy is triple covered and another is double covered, somebody has to be open.

Why wouldn’t he want to throw to djax? He was great with him against Washington last year. Hightower is a favorite? For real? Come one. He’s just a dolt. Simple as that. He’s learned nothing in 5 years. He goes to the Donovan macnabb school of not working on your weaknesses. Throw the damn ball away hayseed.
September 15, 20205 yr Wasn’t a fluke. That team fought like hell and beat the best in a game where they had to keep coming back, receiving blows and delivering bigger blows. Maybe Howie’s success that year was kinda flukey since he never hit on personnel moves before or since like he did that year. But that team? No fluke. Those guys were warriors and beat the biggest bully on the block.

The last decent opponents we faced regular season last year were Seattle and New England and Wentz stunk in both.
