THANK YOU!! SAME!! I watch alot of football and every other team can dink and dunk their way down the field yet we struggle to do it....if THAT isn't an indication of piss poor coaching, blocking and personnel then I don't know what is......

I don’t really know what it’s an indication of. Like I feel like they are a well drilled team in some ways. They win a lot of close games which suggests they have discipline etc. But then they also end up in close games because they can’t seem to put teams away.

Man....how is EVERY OTHER TEAM managing yards in a dink and dunk down the field with ease yet the Eagles cannot seem to for the life of them??? That is play design....that is coaching....this has been an issue for the past 2-3 years....honestly, some of that is on Hurts as well....

My problem is less with Lemon and more with the Eagles. He obviously did nothing in camp yet he automatically becomes the starter in the slot and gets tons of reps while guys like Cooper. Moore and even Brown had much better camps. It's as if the Eagles are trying desperately to justify his first round status. Same with Dalton as #2 QB. Please just let the best players play.

Honestly? Not good. They seemed to use him in motion a lot and gave him 2-3 screens. It feels like they are trying to scheme him open and if that’s what he needs then he’s going to be a bust. Early days of course but honestly it isn’t a great start overall.

And it was very telegraphed which is why the defense stopped it easily

I'm not sure if they actually had good camps or were a product of hype. I mean, Cooper sucks and is literally sufficiently unremarkable to have a shot at clearing waivers if he were cut midseason. Moore and Brown are proven NFL JAGs who never lived up to draft status. But...they can and have cobbled together some level of production in this league. That probably makes them the best option at this moment.

But they are all sufficiently bad that the 22 year old first round pick is going to play until he forces their hand in the other direction.

Oh yeah it was very easy to telegraph. You could see from his motion and the second Hurts snapped the ball where it was going. It had no chance from the start.

Welp- he hasn't done sheeeeiiiitttt since he got here. Totally disappeared in game 1.

Howie picks him and Stowersand its killing the Howie vibe in our drafts. They BOTH suck.

When your number 1 and 2 draft picks SUCK- you blew the draft. Howie losing his powers?
We'll see- it's early. But I never said I was a patient man.....

It’s not that I’m trying to dump on Lemon. He’s clearly a talented player to have been drafted in the first round and was highly rated by the draft analysts. I just don’t think it’s a great sign that the team are trying to force him the ball and create ways to get him involved. It’s good to get the rookie involved but can’t he line up in the slot and make a play on a slant? If he can’t then that’s not a great sign.

I’ll be honest… I watch a lot of NFL games. I watch most teams every week come up with easy chunk yard plays. 6 yards here, 8 yards there, 12 yards on a play, 7 on the next. Guys wide open with nobody around them. And I never see that with us. It’s always such hard work.

He barely had any practice time at all. This was like practice + preseason for him. It seemed like Mannion was just trying to get the ball in his hands and see what he could do. Plus, the OL was the worst part of the offense. Had the blocking been there to get Lemon some positive yardage, that's probably what Mannion wanted to do, just to build some confidence and reps. He may have also wanted to focus on certain plays in the first game overall.

I know he missed most of TC and all that, but Lemon just hasn't shown anything yet.

I think he did what he was asked to do yesterday. It's not his fault they only threw to him behind the LOS and the O line didn't block well. He also did make a key block on one of the runs. So there's something at least. I think we need to be patient to give it time.

yeah, I don't expect much of him until after the bye

Definitely giving him some time. It's just unfortunate that between his hammy and whatever else, we haven't seen anything that says "oh, that's why we took him in round 1 and traded up to do so". I mean...not even a play in practice that we've heard about. Nothing. It's as if he doesn't even exist. 👻

Yeah I think so far the first 2 picks in this draft class are difficult. They may not even turn out to be bad players but I wonder if they'll be the types that we look back (as many already are) at who they could have drafted instead and that will hang over their heads.

After yesterday’s game, his lack of/limited camp activity and preseason play due to injury, and some of the negatives pointed out since his acquisition, Im starting to believe Lemon may be a lemon.

There has been talk about his inability to separate and/or lack of speed required to separate/break away. Yesterday’s game saw him getting sweep screens, and while they were slow developing and easily diagnosed those type of plays were initially given to another bust we all know, Jalen Reagor. I believe the Eagles knew Reagor was gonna have issues at the NFL level and tried to mask his failure with gimmick plays. Im not saying this is flat out the case with Lemon, but its eerily similar in starting him off that way.

Obviously its too early to declare him a first round bust, but early signs make it difficult not to be concerned about it.

He’s a better Football player than me. So, for now, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. 😊

Our WR room, and TE room, except for 1 starter at each position, has no depth and kinda stinks. With a bunch of blah players. But, they are better than me. 😎

😂

Nobody could possibly look at Lemon right now and think he was a first round NFL WR. I want the best players to play and not be foreced to play a WR just because he was a first round pick. Get him in for a few plays here and there but to start him and play him the majority of the time whne he was hurt all camp and didn't show much when he wasn't hurt doesn't make sense.

Howie will always demand his high picks play

I'm insane per your post above. But, you're seeing my point now.

No. Balanced and wait & see vs calling a bust, claiming prior WRs were busts that had close to 1,000 yards receiving etc.

What an awful start. It’s early but he’s looking like another bust wr.

I acknowledge that you pointed to plenty of talented and successful WR with 4.5 speed like Lemon's. Proving me to be uninformed, as usual.

Therefore, the speed alone does not indicate whether he will be successful.

He is due to breakout at some point. It is too early to tell, especially with our OLine issues.

Seems that our offense is not functioning properly yet and our play selection targeting Lemon is all behind the line of scrimmage. We are dysfunctional.

A 1st round draft pick will almost always play no matter the performance on the field, especially with Howie at the helm

You are right. They definitely blew both the 1st and 2nd round picks. Lemon is small slight of stature slow with short arms and small hands.

He plays like a dog they say. That might be worth investing a 3rd round pick. He still could become a solid 30-40 catch 500 yard slot receiver. Without the speed he can't get off the line and separate outside. For that reason alone he's not worth a 1st round pick. Productive slot receivers without speed have a positional value of being selected in the 3rd or 4th round. I have no idea why Howie didn't know this as long as he's been in the NFL.

As for our 2nd round pick, he was a WR in college used out in space to take advantage of his superior athletic traits. They took him off the field on running downs. He was never a tight end. The people who vote for the John Mackey award should all be replaced. They must have read his stats and watched clips of his receptions but never watched a game or interviewed any coaches. He's no more an NFL TE than you or me. He's a slow WR who right now can't get off the line or separate. If I'm the DC on the other team I put my 3rd or 4th CB on him as he offers no blocking ability. That CB can mirror him all over the field and shut him down. A strong blocking TE, numerous ones went in the 3rd round, go against more stout defenders that may not be able to cover them on passing plays and may hand him off to a DB playing a zone. This offers open space and seams that are easy to fill. Just a dreadful TE pick in the 2nd round. He could still become a productive WR if he chooses to work on his blocking. Definitely a jump ball red zone threat. But I put his value as a WR as second half of the 4th round thru the 5th because of his athletic traits. He's a boom or bust project. I have no idea how Howie was talked into drafting a project TE who is really a slow WR in the 2nd round.

You make a lot of sense. As far as 1st round picks almost always playing especially with Howie, are they trying to win games or prove a point? A first round pick on a bad team can play all the organization wants him to play. If the Eagles are going nowhere towards the end of the year then you play him.
