Eh, not a fan of bashing the guy on his social media. He might suck but I think we should all hope he improves and lives up to that 2nd round pick.

Agreed. Attacking him on social media is a little too far. Bashing him on the message board, is fair game lol.

I do hope I am wrong and I hope he is a great player. I just dont see it though

I wouldn't bash him either.  This on Howie for selecting him instead of DK Metcalf.  I'm sure the kid is already battle intense anxiety and depression about this.

That's even another reason for the Eagles to cut bait. If the guy isn't good enough and he has anxiety about it and the Eagles are keeping him around because they want to sweep their misevaluation of him under the floor and the other players on the team are seeing roster positions go to guys who aren't earning it, then they are better off ripping off the bandaid sooner vs. later.  Sure, he would be disappointed about being cut, but it would allow for him to move on and then plan what he wants to do whether it be try to continue to prove himself somewhere else or get a career started in something else.

I agree with this also. The eagles FO need to draft guys that are mentally strong. Us fans can turn on you quick. If you cant handle the criticism, then dont come to Philly.

I don't think the fans should bash him on his own accounts, but some will no matter how we feel about it.. The bottom line is the organization needs to be honest with its assessment of the player. If he isn't cutting it at all, then let him go. Or, try to put him on the practice squad and if another team claims him, so be it. But, if he's not good enough or ready, then it's doing him a disservice to be out there because he is being put in a position to fail.

I don’t have social media im only reading the comments.

Wait until the end of year before cutting him.  His stagnation is also about Wentz's regression and Pederson's play designs, too.

I wasn't accusing you of doing anything. Just making a general statement. Somehow I doubt the messages stopped at "you're a bad WR" (which is true) and didn't cross over into personal attacks. I have no proof of course but I have seen it happen many times.

Of course social media in general is toxic as F and should be avoided by any sane person.

How have the patriots been dominant for so long? They let go of a guy when they see the writing on the wall. We need to do the same. He has already been outplayed by every WR on the roster, including guys who were called up from PS.

sadly jjaw reminds me of james thrash , if you cut bait on rasul , sidney , rowe , nelson you can do jjaw and trade him for something before just releasing him

Trade him? What makes you think he has any value? No team would have him on an active roster...

This isn't Madden lol

Maybe if he wasnt being out produced by practice squad players and rookies

Just cut this bum already and sign Terrel Owens; I'm sure TO is much better than him even at his age.

Thrash had 800+ yards and 8 tds first year with eagles and 6 the next. After leaving eagles he was a productive slot receiver and KR for Wash.

Thrash wasn't devoid of talent he was a slot receiver whom was forced into a leading role under Reid a role he was miscast in.

JJAW doesn't remind me of thrash at all whom also had some speed, JJaw reminds me of billy mcmullen who was a useless bigger bodied receiver as well.

Having said that I could see JJaw go to another team and do better as Carson wild accuracy and persons whacky okay calling hasn't done JJaw any favors.

The guy was drafted to be a 50/50 ball receiver and red zone threat yet Carson has yet to toss him a 50 50 ball or end zone target.

Tough to grade a guy when Carson doesn't look his way and pederson doesn't call any plays for him.

I'd be interested to know how often he's been the first option on any given play I'd guess none.

I agree with you about Thrash. But, I don't really agree with JJAW. He's not showing any burst or suddenness in his routes.  He isn't pressuring DBs at all.

If I'm not mistaken, now that the Eagles are having Watkins practice, the Eagles have 3 weeks to decide whether to keep Watkins on the active roster or IR him indefinitely. So, that might be the end of JJAW if they move Watkins to the active roster.  At that point, they might move Ward outside and put Watkins in the slot.  So, the next 3 weeks might be JJAW's last chance to prove himself.  Now, that could change if DJax ends up going on IR or something, which is definitely possible with DJax.

We all have frustration with JJAW because of whom Howie passed up.  I ruptured an aneurysm in April 2019 when it happened.  That pick was what sent me off the deep end, the second it happened, with being negative and speed obsession.

But it's now water under the bridge.  If JJAW had potential...even the potential to be Jason Avant 2.0...then you be patient, don't take the frustration out on him, and try to develop him.  But let's count the players Doug would rather put on the field and target:

Perkins, unemployed (then and now) udfa street TIGHT END, played WR over JJAW.

Ward, cut 6 times, previously unemployed, played WR over JJAW.

Richard Rogers, rookie udfa TE, targeted over JJAW.

Jordan Matthews, unemployed WR (then and now), played WR over JJAW.

Burnett, practice squad WR, played WR over JJAW.

That is FIVE players that the rest of the NFL deemed unrosterable who are playing WR over JJAW, many of whom got up off the couch and did it without practicing with the team.  That does not include Hollins, who we cut, who played over JJAW, Hightower (5th round rookie), and soon to be Watkins.

When the staff has THAT level of aversion to using a player, they need to be cut.  What's the point?

Richard Rodgers was a 3rd round pick out of Cal but I still get your point. Just want to make sure we are accurate.

We have been hoping that happens since he was drafted. And we were told of massive improvement made by him this offseason and training camp.

The Lie Detector determined That was a LIE

JJAW is the same weight as Hakeem Butler.  Maybe we should try to convert him into a TE/H-back.

"For who, for what?"

It's probably buried deep in this thread, but I keep seeing that JJAW was a Lurie's decision...

If so, anybody got sauce on this????

100% agreed. But you should never believe what they try to sell you in the offseason. Wait til you see on the field during a meaningful game. Right now what JJ is doing on the field is simply unacceptable and that falls squarely on the coaching staff and FO.
