Former Eagles quarterback Ron Powlus was a notable college bust. He came to Notre Dame touted as a multi year Heisman winner and ended up being a non drafted scrub.

He played pretty well the 2nd half of last year. This game vs Ohio St is supposed to be a big test for him to see if he's improved from last year.

To be fair I don't think many QBs play well vs Ohio St. They have a top defense. His receivers haven't helped tonight with some drops on big plays including a TD. But he's also missed open guys and reluctant to throw to them or didn't see them.

I mean, I guess it's very common. There are often late round picks that you hear were 4 and 5 star recruits that just didn't pan out for reasons...

But on the level of Arch Manning? Most of those guys aren't celebrities already before they even play in a college game.

I only know Powlus because he was a Berwick QB back when they were a powerhouse in the 90s and had a rivalry with Hazleton.
