That would go against the entire movement of youth, trusting the players and coaches. At this point if JP comes back he’s going to be a guard.

October 26, 20204 yr I think he plays better than half of the LTs already starting in this league. One thing that doesn't get talked about is how you always see him reaching down to pull someone up. Never another OL but him. Always there, grabbing the RB WR lifting them up. Dude is a real team player. I love the small details.

Giants were blitzing on almost every play, ofcourse he is going to have a few lapses... He didnt get destroyed, he missed a few blocks..

Believe he was one of the coaches at the International Camp they had in Bradenton, FLA that Mailata was participating in. The story is that Stoutland was pounding the table for the Eagles to draft him since he had an up close and personal coaching interaction with him. Bo Wulf just published an article about Mailata and how Eagles found him. Here’s a copy/paste from it: Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, the Eagles were preparing for the draft. In an effort to turn over every stone that might have a prospect underneath it, they sent two scouting department representatives — then-director of pro scouting Dwayne Joseph and then-assistant director of pro scouting Brandon Brown — to the pro day for the international athletes.

October 28, 20204 yr I knew it, I knew they would cave. Jason Peters is practicing at LT. I knew they would be afraid to check his ego and tell him, "you play where we say you play, or you don't play." So, again, after a promising start, they relegate Mailata to the bench. Take 2 steps forward, then 2 steps back.

It really pisses me off that Peters who has done nothing but fleece the team and be a me first guy this year goes right back in at LT where he didn't even look good at all and Mailata who we should be developing for the future now gets bounced around to a different position. Sucks.

Sucks. This is a shock to me. Maybe they are considering moving Mailata to RT and giving Lane a game off?

Jordan was never cross trained at RT in his 3 years here has he? Driscoll looked ok, and so did Herbig out there at RT.
October 28, 20204 yr Mailata has looked better than JP did all year at LT and he's 23, yet you're going to trot the corpse of Peter back out at LT rather than let your potential future T grow into a legitimate starter, this teams decision making drives me insane.

October 28, 20204 yr If Mialata finishes this season well I hope they don’t just give the job to Dillard next season. Ship him out for a pick or two.
October 28, 20204 yr Maybe the way to look at it is Lawrence is their biggest threat so by moving Mailata to right tackle, they are trusting him with that assignment. & not to defend JP who was awful at LT his last start, but he was clearly not anywhere 100% that day so hopefully he'll be able to do a serviceable job until Lane is back so Mailata can move back to LT while JP goes to RG.
October 29, 20204 yr I am intrigued by a future LT/RT combo of Dillard/Mailata with Lane getting moved for picks. After the OL injury carnage, they are never going to trade the best OL on the team in the offseason. But if Dillard/Mailata both develop, I could see them doing it by the 2021 trade deadline. Lane is only just beginning his downward availability spiral. Now is the time to cash out. I don't think the Eagles are thinking that way though. They are just blinded by Peters.

No
October 29, 20204 yr They probably do the stupid thing and put Peters in for Mailata, and bump Mailata to the other side of the line. Maybe. Then when Peters gets injured AGAIN, and the have to put Mailata where he should have stayed in the 1st place. Talk about player mismanagement. Why let Peters take reps away from Mailata, when Peters is only going to get hurt again? I don't care if Peters becomes a Hall of Famer- he has freekin worn out his welcome with this "hang on forever, steal other players development" selfish BS. It's disruptive to the other players, to the team. I am sick of this guy because he has MADE me become sick of him. JP- just hang 'em up. Your body has been screaming for you to do so for the last 3 years. F ing do it.
