More than half the Republicans joined a cult with an elderly, obese maniac running the show. The Dems have an allergy to winning and a good portion of them are so "woke" that it makes me wish I could go into a coma until they are gone.

How long until either or both these parties split? Anyone think there is at least a chance we end up with 3 or 4 major political parties in the near future? Is there even room for that?

The political infrastructure in the US was built to support two major parties - and that's it. Most localities support only one major party machine. So the parties will continue to mold and reinvent themselves as the populace changes. Lines will keep shifting until 50% of the country supports one side and 50% supports the other. Any party split leaves it vulnerable to certain defeat.

  • While I disagree with Biden trying to save these idiots from themselves, it just proves what a wonderful human being he is. IMO we should encourage Trumpbots to all give each other Covid so they die o

The problem is they have no incentive to get anything.  They're like the far right.  Opposition and ideological purity plays better to the extremists in their districts than compromise does.

If that ever happens, get used to the House picking the president.

Close to a $ half mill per person.  Sounds reasonable!

No doubt. Who doesn’t love a frail old septuagenarian with secret service protection threatening a citizen with a legit policy question.

Biden is basically going all-in on the river here. He's hoping that this "plan" will be enough to convince the progressives in the house to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill and then work to turn this framework into legislation. Basically, he's putting the onus on the Progressive caucus -- either get on board, or we ALL go down (Dems lose Congress in 2022 and likely WH in 2024).

It's bold. It's incredibly high stakes. And it...seems doomed for failure. His miscalculation is assuming the progressives are rational and care about maintaining control. They are ideologues who will burn the house down.

I don't think Sinema will vote for anything. Progressives could cave, and they could write the bill to cater to all of her ridiculous demands, and she'd find some other reason to be against it. She seems more interested in Cos Play with fellow republican Mitt Romney these days...

I can almost see him, all ready to unload on Biden. Then he reaches in his pocket for a flask, takes a couple shots, and completely forgets what he was doing and maybe passes out in his car seat.

She really is nauseating. Before being elected she was a sociology professor making 45k a year who was a registered green party member who said that "capitalism is evil". Now a few years later she's filthy rich and thinks corporations shouldn't pay any taxes.
