Somebody knew they were there because they put them there.  We can guess all we want about how they got there but it's only a guess mostly driven by political leaning.  People on the left 'Oh, they were just misplaced documents that nobody even knew about' and people on the right 'Top secret documents, what was he going to do with them, trade them for jobs for Hunter?'  I'm just saying it shouldn't be dismissed outright because nobody knows why he's had them or what his intent might have been.  Maybe there was no intent to do anything but maybe there was but either way it should be investigated at least a little, not totally dismissed as nothing.  There appears to be no good reason for them to be there.

My thinking is that there should be somewhere between 12 and 20 investigations, concluding around October 2024.  I'm looking at the calendar and I don't see anyway they could realistically wrap up before or after that one month window in fall of next year.

  • While I disagree with Biden trying to save these idiots from themselves, it just proves what a wonderful human being he is. IMO we should encourage Trumpbots to all give each other Covid so they die o

yeah, except there's no equivalence. it's like comparing first degree murder to a traffic violation.

More like first degree murder to vehicular manslaughter.

Sure thing, bud. All part of your track record on these matters. Just like when you tried to claim false slates of electors were never submitted. Then tried to correct me on the name by calling them "alternate electors".

Be careful.  You just claimed that documents were the lowest level of classification.  Your record is quite evident as well, liar.

The difference is that I am not introducing something irrelevant to the topic.

I mean why stop the investigations now.  I don't need an answer, I already know why.

No, if the material was classified at the lowest level and wasn't improperly disclosed, he will not be investigated for violations of the espionage act. Trump had more than 20 boxes of materials classified at the highest levels and reportedly included extremely sensitive information like details of human intelligence and nuclear capabilities of foreign nations. Biden reportedly had 10 documents, found and surrendered voluntarily, none of which were reported to be of the same nature.

I get it though, much like how you repeatedly downplayed Trump's attempt to subvert democracy, you really want to paint this as being the same thing Trump did so you can both sides it, but it's just not. Trump is F'ed, Biden is fine. Come back in 2028 with someone who doesn't bootlick a reprehensible traitorous moron if you want to win the presidency again.

Stop now?  Republicans were already gearing up for 1 year and 10 months of straight investigations.  This will just give them one more for the pile.

you guys know that the DOJ is looking into the docs, right? it's being investigated. you know that, right?

Yeah, but will the DOJ even have cameras on them?  How credible can an investigation really be without grandstanding and Matt Gaetz involved?

Unlikely.

Why even speak that into existence? (Even if it is very likely to happen)

After last week's vote, I think it's all but assured.

don't worry. jim jordan is the chairman of the judiciary committee...so everything will be on the up and up.

Both investigations need to be transparent and apolitical.  This inherently excludes a Congressional investigation. This protects any justified prosecution and conviction of Trump. Especially for optics.

Trump is a walking criminal and talking liar. He's above the law with every crime he commits. The Rule of Law doesn't apply to him. He's special.

And he clearly violated the law which should be addressed.  And I hope he is addressed if only because he could never hold a clearance again.

Yeah, the DOJ is looking into it. The same DOJ so diligently looking into the firebombing of pregnancy centers that the pregnancy centers have had to hire private eyes to look into them too. I wonder if there were any documents pertaining to his secret trip to Ukraine with the Salvation Army?

Yeah, and there's been about 6 years of investigations prior so it's just a continuing trend.

More like 10.  Republicans started in 2012, post-Benghazi, and didn't stop until the 2016 election.
