He's trying to earn back some conservative street creed now that he's attempting to get on the ballot as the GOP candidate for Senate. I think his polling numbers are pretty low so he's been having to take some extreme and unfortunate measures like going on Glenn Beck's podcast and attacking democrats for some of the charges brought against Trump. Some of that also stems from his freedom caucus roots where guys like Massie will say some insane thing and Amash will feel compelled to defend it because he's close friends with him. Some of it is also because he's ultra libertarian at times and "the boot of the state" shall not be allowed to crush anyone's neck, not even a despicable criminal like Trumps. I wouldn't say it makes him a Trumper now, but he's definitely lost a ton of his objectivity and credibility now that he's trying to get back in the good graces of the GQP again.
