definitely. Now, we get to have every villain of every season just get beaten by Eleven at the end. So happy the idea to try something different and break away from the template failed bc the fans hate new things.

It was a direction they tried to go in that felt out of place.  Had they more naturally evolved it into other areas it might have worked.

You're right, you don't want repetition. So this past season they took away her powers and that was boring.  They spent hours of screen time on re-telling a past story in memories to discover the truth and then get her powers back.  I think that actually hurt her character development.  I liked that she once lost control of her powers and killed others and had to deal with that baggage and fear that she could do it again and learn to control.  The referenced sub-plot where she meets others might have even been a better story this past season.  Instead of Papa and a water tank (again), she is on the run and gets connected to others.  It also would play into the Vecna backstory.

Kinda feels like they had a season or 2 in mind story wise and went for it but got popular and then had to wing it. So we know about 001 and 011, and after 011 escaped everything kinda went crazy so they may not have been able to experiment on any kids after her. But we just saw 001 slaughter more than 10 kids in the lab. And somehow this didn't include 008 who was somewhere, and there's other numbers like 006, 009 etc that escaped and were hanging out with 008....

So he gets home from Russia and then given a secret black ops mission and immediately spins up to the Amazon rain Forest to fight One if Vecnas other creatures?  Makes sense.  Too bad he gets liquified by predator upon touching down.

plenty of references to predator:

The show’s first season has many name references to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1987 action film, Predator. For instance, Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) shares his same name with the first soldier killed by the Predator, whose flayed body is found by Dutch (Schwarzenegger) and his team. The town name, Hawkins, also shares a name with a member of Dutch’s team who also, unfortunately, is also the Predator's first casualty in said unit.

Towards the end of the season, Hopper tries to enter the Hawkins Laboratory. Instead, he’s advised to contact Rick Schaeffer, a reference to Dutch’s last name in Predator. Clearly, Stranger Things co-creators The Duffer Brothers have watched Predator more times than most people.

and also, The kids went to haddonfield memorial hospital and didn’t get knifed by michael myers!

Re-watching Game of Thrones. A guard at Winterfell was played by Joseph Quinn who played Eddie Munson. He's a British actor.

He's older than Natalia Dyer, but somehow doesn't look in his later 40s.... 😉

Something no one asked for:

A Stranger Things prequel...play...on stage in the UK.

Quote

Rehearsals are now underway in the U.K. for Stranger Things: The First Shadow, an official, canonical prequel to the hit Netflix series that will premiere soon on the London stage. Netflix today announced the cast of the show — which features younger versions of Stranger Things characters like Hopper, Joyce, and the kid who later grows up to become Vecna, Henry Creel. (I guess in the parlance of Stranger Things’ ’80s nostalgia obsessed vibe, we might unofficially dub this thing Stranger Things Babies.)

The First Shadow was announced in March of this year. At that time, here was how Netflix officially described the premise and setting of the play:

Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach. Brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, who take theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to a whole new dimension, this gripping new adventure will take you right back to the beginning of the Stranger Things story – and may hold the key to the end.

Here were the Duffer brothers’ statement on the announcement of the show’s cast:

The cast of ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ is nothing short of phenomenal. These actors brilliantly explore the early days of many fan favorites — including Hopper, Joyce, Bob, Henry and Dr. Brenner — while also bringing new characters to vivid life. We couldn’t be more thrilled and can’t wait for you to meet them all live on stage. See you in London, nerds!

So I’m not really into plays, but are they all based on old movies and tv shows now?  Jesus we have truly run out of ideas.
