We have to be careful about what's posted, for a couple of reasons. 

With regard to nudes/porn, we could lose hour host if porn was allowed. So we can't do that. 

With regard to profanity, if we wind up needing to put ads on here (for guests, not for logged in members), Google AdSense doesn't seem to like profanity, so they could disallow any ads.

I'm not sure what an average day's worth of activity on the old EMB was, but we have nearly 2,000 posts here in less than 24 hours, so far.

porn/profanity would ruin the board, imo...especially for those of us who post at work.  that being said, i'd hope there would be more freedom on a private board like this than there was on a tightly moderated nfl board. of course, there are limits to everything.

I said in some thread on one of these boards just a bit ago we already had 124 active members while the old board had 145. So pretty damn close to the same traffic already.

You may not be seeing everyone that's active too, because people can sign on anonymously and they won't show up in the online user list.

Im sure different employers are different but when Im on work wifi I generally stick to the blog. If I do go to WU I generally stick to the 6ers thread or TAA. Obviously dont open up the boob thread. So far Ive not been blocked based on being careful about what I open. But Id guess some employers might actually look in to the content on the whole EMB and find something they dont like.

We revised our policy a bit.  Banned members who got banned for lesser infractions, such as spazzing out over a suspension and filling their log in a blaze of glory, will be allowed back on a short leash.

Members who were habitual trolls or crossed way over the line will not.

 

Suspensions from the actions in the thread you mentioned will not carry over, but if they pull that here they will be booted quickly.

Are there ways of creating subforms where you'd need mod or admin approval to view/enter? That'd be neat to have.

The score is 138 online users on the old MB to 136 online here.

yeah. theres probably more of those on the old board than here, but if they dont want anyone to know theyre here, theyre not active (posting) either. So as I see it, we are almost more active here than there already. 

Of course for sustainability purposes the traffic from anonymous lurkers will be necessary to have here too.

It was a lie Dave told us and it hurt but it was great seeing the response from everyone. Donating over $3k to create our own boards. It's really impressive and a big F you to whoever decided to try and move us to reddit
