Guys like Brady and Rodgers (probably)  are redefining what "long career" means. But guys like Young, Cunningham, Elway and Manning/Manning had long careers playing into their late 30s. It's also rare to see a guy stay on one team that long due to the potential cost of that player weighed against uncertainty about his age. No ... I'm not worried about 10 years from now. I'm only concerned about right now.

Yeah, but as everyone likes to point out, that was a different league. Guys like Lamar and Hurts are going to have more carries than those guys, and the main thing is to make sure they don't take unnecessary hits on those runs. When Cunningham, Young, etc were playing, you could totally take a QB's head off when he became a runner. Nowadays QB's are overprotected, and defensive players are afraid to make contact.

Jalen getting his head blown up twice this season already says otherwise.

It's all about calculated risks. Jalen runs a lot, but often he minimises the potential danger or hits he takes. Wentz use to run a lot less, but was reckless when he did run, leaving himself open (that fateful hit in the Rams game where he dived and was hit mid-air by two Rams).

It's clear he needs to be careful with the late slides, as other teams are taking that for an opportunity for cheap hits. Generally when he was running last night, he did do a decent job of protecting himself.

Anyway, as others have said, even if he is done early, we could still get 7 or 8 more good years out of him if he continues playing like he has so far this season.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Dang, I didn't think we'd have someone hating on Hurts today, but you proved me wrong 😄

Dude is going off the hinges over last night lol.

Yeah, he was all about crediting his team mates, talking about not scoring in the second half and being focused for Washington. I would want my QB to have self belief and confidence. Seems pretty much all his team mates love him as well.

Those hits don't even compare, and I don't think those hits were as bad as some claim, they were just a bit late.

That's the one thing that pissed me off last night, for two games I've watched the Lions and the Vikings hit Hurts well after he's gone down sliding, and then last night Cousins slides and our defenders immediately pull out of tackles.

He played a great game but I'm not crowning him

Man they are out in full force in the facebook groups calling everyone fake fans, trolls, people who don't know football

In addition to also either subtly or just flat out calling anyone who criticized Hurts as racist

Need to find a new facebook group

He ain't no cooper rush but will wash your feet, turn water into wine, and run it into the EZ.

Listen, I have become a Hurts fan. At the same time I can recognize that he has still a ways to go in some key areas. Critiquing is what we do, its how we show we care. But last night he answered some big questions, and if he can be consistent I am very excited for the future. The velocity on some of those passes was unlike what I remember from last year, his footwork was much cleaner, and he actually went through progressions! It's disappointing that this feed has spiraled down into a conversation about how "cocky" Hurts is.

The dude has always been one of the most humble 'team-first' guys on any team he has been a part of. Focus on the game, he did some good things last night and showed some areas to work on. We won last night, now to focus on that team down in DC.

No I'm not. I said he played decent. I'm just not buying in.

The wait and see people are often more right than me, but I'm an all in fan and hate the letdown. I was done with Wentz his last year and excited when Hurts came in, but didn't like the flaws I saw that carried to last year. He could prove me wrong and I'd be fine with it but I just don't like him. He played decent last night, I don't expect it to last, but I'd be happy for you all if it does.

He played a whole lot better than decent. Not admitting that is weird. Also, why wouldn’t YOU be happy if he plays well? That’s also weird. The guy that played last night is a top ten QB, easily. That continuing is best for the team. I don’t understand how it’s not, other than the injury concerns in terms of running

It shouldn't matter to anyone if I'm happy or not. I'd be happy for you all if I'm wrong. I didn't like Simmons and wanted him gone but would have been happy if they won. Same with Hurts.

Definitely. I criticize him when he plays like poo, like any other eagle... but i have faith in him.

The season will likely have ups and downs. We'll have to see where we are at the end of course. But it's still fun engaging in weekly (over)reactions

Confidence/cockiness is a common attribute in athletes. Some just feign fake humility better than others in PCs.  The Eagles say they seek guys who are competitive in every little thing.  That's actually a super annoying character trait outside of sports in most people.  It generally doesn't bother me unless there is some extreme going on

Hurts is a cocky SOB and I can't stand him. Plus this is BS. His lovers will talk crap after this game and he will go right back to sucking again against good teams because that's who he is.

You're out of your freaking mind if you think Hurt is cocky

I wanted to see improvement in some keys area's before the Steelers game this year:

1. Read defenses- not just one n run

2. Quicker reaction/decision making time

3. Zip the ball better/arm strength

4. Run smarter/when to run, protect self when running

I saw that last night and hope it becomes the "new norm" for him.
