If you get too many cars in too small an area, a backup occurs.

If you get too many cars in too small an area, a backup occurs. see, im not saying that everyone mergers at the same point. when youre on the highway and you see a "right lane ends 1 mile" then you have 3/4 of a mile to simple change lanes before anyone has to slow down. if everyone does that when they have the oppurtunity, then there is no single merge point, but a single file line moving at the speed limit.

What I am saying is yes, I agree with you. This works as long as traffic doesn't exceed the capacity of the roadway.
