Lurie is obviously a problem. However i also don’t think doug wanted to be here anymore. That list of a coaching staff he gave Lurie was a complete joke. Seriously bringing back Undlin was his plan? And promoting press Taylor to OC as he was passing game coordinator and failed miserably at that this year. The writing was on the wall when he gave him that list. He wanted out due to Lurie and howie’s ineptitude and pushing him around. that said not as if Doug did a very good job maximizing the talent he did have or playing to their strengths. He’s not blameless in this

The fact that I like Mac Jones as a prospect?  He's a late 1st round/2nd round talent so obviously that wouldn't be considered a "stupid take" if I like him in the 2nd round.

Oh I agree. It feels like Doug was trolling Lurie with that list of candidates. 

I said this yesterday but the Hurts pick makes even less sense to me today than ever before.  Lurie went above and beyond to praise the UNSTOPPABLE Nate Sudfeld.  Explained how they thought he could even be a starter in the league and was the top backup in the SB.

Jeff, if you had that much faith in your backup quarterback, why did you draft a quarterback in the 2nd round?

I call it a ultimatum list. He gives that and he knows he’s going to get fired because it was a ridiculous list. Or the Eagles were going to give in to him and he gains some power inside the organization. The ultimatum was either fire me or give me more power in my job.

Right.  Pretty sure BGN's tweet was in response to Hurts being traded at all not necessarily him "requesting a trade".

They're the ultimate politicians. That's all they are. Half the things they say they don't even believe and it's just lip service. He totally dodged the question about Roseman that Les Bowen asked and deflected to saying that he surrounds himself with worthy GM candidates. I don't know why anyone gives the time of day to listening or getting anything of substance from these press conferences.

Because they didn’t draft Jalen hurts to be a back up. That was a concoction they came up with because people were gullible enough to believe it since Carson had injuries in the past/just sustained a concussion in a playoff game and their salary cap look the way it did in 2021. It was all a BS secondary and tertiary reasons they gave.

I’d bet a lot of money the real reason was they didn’t know which Carson Wentz they were going to get. End of season 2019 Carson or beginning of the season 2019 Carson. They didn’t know and they knew they had two years to figure it out based on contract. In two years if you drafting hurts and you groom him properly they probably believed he could be a starter by that point. so if it was early season 2019 Carson they could move on and have their starting QB in place ready to take over. The Eagles having a back up plan and being ahead of the curve is how they think. I think lurie even said that yesterday that they always have a back up plan in their presser

The fact that this team sunk a mega contract into Wentz, then stupidly drafted Hurts with a 2nd round pick last year. Now you think it's a good idea to burn another late 1st to 2nd round pick on ANOTHER QB. Yeah, you're a genius. NFL owners should be on the phone to hire you as the next GM.

If they trade wentz or hurts then clearly they need to draft another QB in the second round because they need a cheap backup for 4 years....

I said IF the Eagles trade down and get multiple 2nd round picks, I like the idea of taking Jones there because he is a solid prospect there.  All we are doing is "guessing" at this point.  We don't know what will happen with Wentz and/or Hurts but in all likelihood, one of the two will be gone by next season. 

So if that's the case, Jones would be an ideal backup, especially if it's Hurts that stays...he would complement Hurts' style and I'm not worried about Hurts' psyche because Hurts has been the "underdog" his entire College career and won't have issues competing for a starting role.  Wentz, on the other hand, is a different story.
