Barnett may not be all pro, but he's been a solid starter at DE. Dillard is just bad luck, Sanders is fine, and so on. Mailata has all pro talent.

 

 

 

I'm not sure I would agree with him just having 2 bad/poor picks in last 5 years. 

Sure JJAW and Jones - Busts

 Rowe, Aggy, Douglas, Hollins, Pump all were very questionable with where they were taken and what other players were drafted after them, (not necessarily at their position) 

Reagor- jury still out on - at best even if he does work out, likely will never be worthy of his draft slot. Dillard may end up being in the same category. 

Hurts- wasted 2nd rd pick, you dont spend a 2nd on a Backup QB when your team has so many more needs. 

Some would argue Barnett has never lived up to his 1st rd draft slot.

2019 Only 5 picks 2 players (Dillard, Sanders OK - Fail on JJAW & Miller - last one - throw away )

 

2020 - 10 picks too early to tell on players BUT

rd1 21 Reagor- should be a decent player, most likely was drafted too high

rd2 53 Hurts- Complete waste of a pick - Should make a decent Backup QB- you dont draft a backup QB in rd2 when you have other needs

rd3 103 Taylor - Inc

rd4 127 Wallace - Inc

rd4 145 Driscoll - decent value here

rd5 168 Hightower - inc

rd 6 196 Bradley - inc

rd6 200 Watkins - inc

rd6 210 Prince - inc

The bigger issue kyrie has been rumored to not want to play with harden. And kyrie is a selfish ahole to begin with. Frankly i don’t think he even wants to play and he’s always hurt now even when he tries to play.

Yes, because when you actually look at drafting, instead of knee jerk overreaction, the Eagles haven't been great, they haven't been horrid.

Teams miss on top hundred picks on a regular basis, especially 2nd and 3rd rd picks.

Howie has had big seasons, 2012, 2013, 2016, and off seasons. I think it has reflected the organizational focus, the last few years they had a SB hangover, same thing happened in NO and Baltimore, trying to get back into the big game distorts judgement. And they've had really terrible injury luck, which probably caused them each year to feel next year we'll be back to normal.

Now that they're rebuilding, Howie will rely more on the scouts and personnel guys, b/c he won't hire a HC who expects to win now. But I think Lurie and Howie will be less willing to defer to coaches over their personnel guys in the future - coaches are just too focused on winning now to take a longer view.

As far as teams like Baltimore and Pittsburgh "sticking to their board," they have more than their share of whiffs between 2016-2019. You'd better have the right board and a little luck.
