If we get Daboll as HC, I hope he brings his WR coach. Beasley has resurrected his career there.  Diggs has become more consistent there.  All their WRs seem to be involved.

I always thought Beasley was great slot receiver. A slant route killer, I remember always yelling at the TV on 3rd and 5 or less that Romo/Dak would be going to Beasley. He is a pretty reliable receiver.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

WR was the Achilles' heel of the Reid era.

Until they signed TO it was.  After TO, WR wasn't always great but it wasn't the primary problem.

Maybe he had his voice in the trade for Diggs. That trade was a difference maker for Allen and that offense.

Agree

He had slowed down quite a bit. I thought he was close to done when he left Dallas.  He deserves credit, but also it's a testament to Buffalo's system that they are running. They are using players to their strengths.

But you get a bonus by picking the minority thats racism against the other guy

Let your qualities and your work get u hired

You can spin it anyway u want but it straight up racism

The problem is in America, there’s a long history of people with equal resumes being passed over only because they are black.

Regardless, I don’t really want to dive into race discussions on a football message board.

No.  I’m not.  But the blog isn’t the place to talk politics.  Go to CVON and wait for me.

CVON is an echo chamber, just like twitter.

A little misleading due to his ACL tear (iirc), but he didn't get hurt until about the 10th week, which is disgraceful, considering our LBs were so bad.

I have such an irrational hatred of cole Beasley. He just looks like a little weasel

I'm sure this is JIm Schwartz' fault somehow.

It is Howie's fault and Schwartz' fault.  Howie for bringing him in so raw... Schwartz for not even giving him a look while Gerry was getting beaten like a drum.

I couldn't/wouldn't care if the best candidate was a Martian, a Vulcan or an actual Dolphin, as long as we hire the best candidate for the job at hand based on their abilities.

Oh my... Now that would be interesting...

Interesting listening to the inside the birds podcast that bills WR chad hall has done a great job and the bills absolutely love him. Yup that chad hall

I’m glad you clarified you aren’t a racist. Guess that means problem solved!

I don't think this is consistent with Doug's assistants being fired out from under him only to be replaced by the consultants.

The one fired was Groh, his WR coach, the one kept was Taylor, his QB coach.

I don't remember Pederson ever pursuing and lobbying for a talented OC candidate, probably b/c he'd have to turn play calling over to get one.

Does anyone remember any adjustments Doug made to help his young WRs? To help his QB when his OL imploded instead of multiple deep routes? To help his young QB in the second half when teams spied on Hurts and took away the run?

Isnt Jeff still under contract with us? i havent seen anything about him being let go?

He can resign and sign with college, its not competing directly.  He just can't resign and sign with another NFL team.

Yes...the Eagles countered with more screens to Ward....

Well if he signed off on the pick then yeah, he is at least partially at fault. But I can't fault him for playing Gerry over a rookie, although he's made plenty of mistakes in regards to LBs which has been discussed to death here and elsewhere. I was mostly joking though, after the recent story that Doug made Howie pick Reagor when every other report is that Howie went against the scouts who wanted Jefferson.

And yet I’m still extremely confident white guys will get most of the jobs.  If it becomes disproportionate in the other direction then I guess the NFL will offer incentives to hire white coaches.

The NFL has it mostly right, but they need to focus more attention on hiring minorities to GM and executive positions as well — at that level there’s almost no minority hirings at all.

He didn't tear his ACL

To recap the rumors so far

Jets HC favorite - Saleh

Chargers HC favorite - Daboll

Falcons HC favorite - Smith

Jags HC favorite - Meyer

You think Howie ignored his scouts to take Taylor? Why? Whatever LB he takes after #100 is going to be a ST guy as a rookie, so it's not a win now choice. You make "win now" decisions in the first and second rounds, once you get past pick 100, it's all about potential, since few of these players get significant PT as rookies.

More likely, Eagle scouts rated him higher than other teams with regard to long-term potential, because you take Taylor for the player he'll be in year 3, same as Sweat at #130, who they knew would take two years to bulk up and get past his knee injury.

Yes.

nah, just pointing out, the most important thing should be merits and ability.  How anyone thinks differently just is beyond logic.

ACL? His 21-day return to practice window opened at the end of the year.
