Wasn't there a big thing about Daboll and analystics helping Allen's arm angle or something like that?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

nah, just pointing out, the most important thing should be merits and ability.  How anyone thinks differently just is beyond logic.

Cool story. You do realize that people do in fact think and act differently? Or do you think racism is just made up?

Just because we now live in a time where racial diversity and inclusion is at an all time high for human history, it doesn't erase past mistakes or grievances. The NFL is trying to do something, and it may or may not work, but I will at least applaud them for trying something and not just sticking their head in the sand as you seem to be.

They may have to course correct, and in time maybe it balances it out much better. But we aren't there yet. And hiring a coach is no guarantee of anything, regardless of their resumes and accomplishments. So if the rule allows for more minorities to a) be interviewed, and b) possibly land a job where they wouldn't have been considered before, then so be it.

Once you become a head coach, it's a complete meritocracy in place, and you sink or swim on your results, your race is irrelevant (as it should be). Just screaming out "it should all be based only on merit!" is being very obtuse about the entire race discussion, and accomplishes nothing.

Or maybe Stoutland has had his fill of Howie.

Interesting thought. He could have been forced to use Peters at LT over Mailata. There were also a few other bad players that were used over better ones

They need a plan. Father time could strike this offseason. Though they could go after Foles

What did he do to his knee?

Don't think the exact details came out but it was a sprain of something. They wanted him to play the last game but he wasn't ready.

Yup. That was really the point of me posting that.

If Daboll is smart enough to know that the best way to develop your q.b. is to surround him with talent, he's the guy for me

What good would that do here?  He can know that all day long, but he will receive draft picks that are significantly less talented.  Through a very serious "collaborative approach" the owner and GM will pick his staff or force replacements as they see fit.  When it becomes necessary, he will be marginalized and scapegoated.

Not sure why any coach with some credibility right now would even want to interview with the Eagles.... I guess maybe to try to drive a price up somewhere else.

That Jacksonville welcome mat!!

If Banner is right, Kafka might be the guy. If they already know who they want, but haven't hired him yet and continue on with all these interviews, to me it's logical that guy can't be interviewed yet. While it could be Daboll or Bieniemy too, Kafka "feels" like the guy, because he'd be the least inspiring of the bunch(and that seems to be the trend for Philly sports these days) and also going back to the Andy Reid coaching tree because Lurie doesn't have confidence in going outside that tree would just be such a Lurie thing to do.

I don't think it's all that far fetched. I think Wentz could be very successful there and would be willing to renegotiate to get there. My guess is Wentz is tired of the crap show here in Philly. This city has really never taken him in. (Yes he played bad last year)

I got to think that if we hire an offensive coach, he is going to lean towards trying to fix Wentz rather than try to groom Hurts.

Been saying since we fired doug I think Kafka is going to be the guy they hire. I’d also add inside the birds discussed that Kafka is Reid’s right hand man and very intricate part of their passing game. He also is credited according to caplan for being a huge part of mahomes development.

I agree with your first point, Doug did not want a strong OC

Your second point, I will agree Doug Allowed the game plan to be changed to fit Foles strengths, I am not sure it was Doug who noticed that.

Agree, he tried to make Wentz Foles.

Disagree with the WR comment to a degree. It took a really good Defense, and a McNabb pulling plays out of his bum, to make up for the lack of talent at WR. The one year we had a good TO we shot straight to being the best team in the NFL as a result. It took the Pats spygate to beat us in the SB.

Isnt Foles on record saying Reich was the one who "figured him out"?

Unless Nick was referring to something else...

Not sure why you are pointing out there is racism TO ME, I dont recall ever down playing it or saying there isn't. Part of the problem we have today is people just randomly read stuff into things that just are not there.

In a round about way, I basically stated it never matters to me, nor should it, that the only thing that should matter is ability. And somehow, you deem I needed lectured?

A Kafkaesque new regime is what I am expecting.

AF... no. This isn’t about not wanting a strong OC, he simply was too loyal to his own guys.

Reich wasnt known at that time as a strong OC.  At least I don't remember the hire being that talked about.  I'm sure there were some fans that felt Reich was a bad hire.

Stay tuned.

I think with the coaching search, the past dictates a lot of future direction.  Think back to Andy getting fired.  A lot of that was because the team felt stale.  Needed a new voice, new energy, and new thinking.

And Chip really filled that void.

Now, Chip got fired more because he lacked emotional intelligence than anything else.  Howie and Jeffrey learned that no matter how brilliant or inventive a HC was, if he couldn't lead his team (coaches, players, staff) it wouldn't matter.

In comes Doug - brimming with the emotional intelligence, but I think the pendulum swung too far away from the other stuff.

This time around, I think they will be looking for a blend of the two - someone who is inventive enough to utilize the talent on the team and create new looks and mismatches but also has the emotional intelligence to lead and create buy-in.

I think that's why we are seeing a wider net and considering defensive HCs too (though I'm sure an offensive mind is their preference).

I'd guess they are looking for vision, inspiration, creativity, and a plan.  And I'd bet they are most willing to sacrifice experience in that mix.

why would Jeffrey see Kafka as anything different than what he just fired?

Glad to hear this about Stoutland, he's easily the eagles best position coach and top OL coach in the league.

I can't imagine Howie and Lurie want to lose him and if they don't do everything they can to retain him it will be an Indictment on them both!

Well I heard Kafka likes chocolate soft serve ice cream.  Complete 180 from Doug.
