January 24, 20214 yr 17 minutes ago, Sack that QB said: A lot of football people are meatheads. Wouldn’t surprise me if the quote he got came from a total meathead. I don’t expect eloquent quotes from most NFL people, so I got the basic gist of what that source was trying to say. Basically, he’s pretty smart but he’s not some guru, is how I took it. I just go by the number of stories reporters break. McLane breaks for more than the other local guys, so I’d have to figure he has better sources. Very often he gets little tidbits before most other local guys. If we were to stack up all the nuggets all the local reporters have over the years, McLane would dwarf the field. It would probably be McLane, then Bowen or Caplan, then figure out the rest. I agree his stories very often lean negative, but it’s a good balance to all the fluff excuse making bs columns from other writers over the years. I mean it took until like December for guys like Reuben Frank to finally say a negative word about Howie. I like having a guy in the city who will rip apart the organization when it’s needed. It’s unfortunate it has to be so binary, but it is what it is. I look at it is more he took a quote from a guy because he didn’t like the hire or he felt somebody else should’ve gotten the hire and put it out there to put down the candidate that the eagle’s hired. Mclane is part of the Woke crowd if you follow him on Facebook. If you ever realize a lot of McLane slants that he comes with quotes that reflects how he feels. As someone who graduated with journalism degree if you ask a question in a specific way you’ll get the specific quote or a quote you want to use. I’m guessing when he asked that source he probably didnt ask what do you think In general but more tell me the positive and negatives with the hire. He also likely knew that source would give him a quote he would want to use or had knowledge that source wanted someone else for coach or wasn’t a sirianni guy/colts guy Now if you were to talk about his in-depth story where he gets what’s happening behind the scenes that’s different. But he has a lot of quotes on things he asked probably in a way to get the quote he wants. trust me when i covered sports for epitaph and city council here I’d have a story I’d want to go with and I’d ask questions in ways i knew I’d get a quote I could use to support it to make it go with the story idea i had I would disagree. There’s been plenty of stories broken by other reporters. Zach Berman has broken stories. And when kapadia and mcmanus worked exclusively eagles coverage they broke a lot. . Elliot shorr-Parks somehow broke the LeSean McCoy trade and DeSean Jackson gang story. I also want to say the rift between howie and chip wasn’t broken by mclane. You remember Jeff mclane’s articles more because they are more damning and that’s when he gets sources to talk to him because they are more negative than the other stories that are broken by reporters. That’s the difference he’s able to get people who have an ax to grind when things aren’t going well to talk to them. When things are going well he tends to not break stories. This is similar to Adam caplan always saying oh I knew prior to the fact but I couldn’t say anything meanwhile he never says it prior to the fact. Certain reporters have their flaws come out if you pay attention to them I don’t disagree that you need beat reporters to be more critical of the Eagles and be negative but it’s a joke if you’re gonna tell me he only leans more negative. I’ve seen all the beat writers be critical and negative at times Jeff mclane is always negative. There’s a difference between having balance and just being slanted one way because you feel Slighted by the organization cause someone else got a leak he didn’t and then acted like a unprofessional jerk to fight a fellow reporter and kicked out of a game. that’s where his angst comes from.
January 24, 20214 yr Must be nice to have WRs of the ilk of godwin, Adams and Evans. Add to the next game of diggs and hill’s ability

I hope when lurie has the presser about the hire that one of the reporters asks how much influence did sirianni’s work with developing WRs in his time as a coach factor into the process of hiring him (as the eagles have multiple young WRs like reagor, JJAW, Watkins and Hightower). Love to hear that answer cause i think better WR play also helps the QB besides trying to fix a QB and the eagles have not been good at developing their younger WRs

January 24, 20214 yr Rodgers had Lazard wide open... shouldn't have locked in on Adams... oh wait, this isn't a Wentz game. My bad.

We have Baldy on our coverage in the UK and he's literally just defending Rodgers saying he can't be blamed for locking in on Adams. 95% of QBs would be criticised for locking in on one guy and missing a wide open receiver.

Have a feeling we are getting a 7th coach in 7 years. Imo Greg Lewis got a raw deal when he was here in 2016. They gave him DBG, agholor and matthews then treggs and turner. I am guessing they were likely disappointed with Agholor’s development. However agholor was inside his own head, Lewis not a psychologist for Nelson Agholor. that said it worked out cause groh had great success in 2017 and Lewis has done well for himself in KC

That was the thought I had when they showed the replay of Lazard being wide open, that if Wentz had done that there'd be at least a handful of posters here who would have had to say something over the top negative about it. Wow, the great Rodgers missed a wide open WR for a TD. It happens to every QB as we just saw.

Yeah I mean Wentz would have been crushed for it but then I guess as its our own team we are more invested? Like I'm not bothered really if Rodgers misses a guy or not. I am with our own QB, be that Wentz or Hurts or whomever.
