I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I guess people want Wentz to come out like "I really look forward to being an asset for the team"

Literally nothing Wentz could say right now would be appropriate.  Just him saying "I want to be an Eagle and I want to start" would create undue controversy and set the table for an awkward offseason.

If he has to compete for the job, so be it.  But theres no point in saying anything at all right now.

And Im not sure why people expect him to "welcome" his new boss, either.  He wouldnt be able pull it off without being transparently phony or making it seem like he expects the job to be handed to him

The media speculation is crap.

For example, "Eagles might have to attach draft compensation to move Wentz" - uh, they're rebuilding, why would they bother when they can just keep him and eat the cap money and trade him in the future, it's not like moving him would free up cap room for a huge FA spree for two years in any case. Because it was done for Goff, it would be done for Wentz, deep thinkers out there!

Sirianni hasn't even meet with Wentz yet, he's just started his in-depth review of the team. I doubt Howie would make this move before Sirianni had made a decision whether to go forward with Wentz or writing him off as a lost cause.

Now, would Howie talk with other GMs about a possible trade? Sure. The draft isn't until late April, he doesn't know what his new HC will decide, so of course he's going to listen to offers and get a sense of the tradeoffs of keeping or moving Wentz. It's called "information gathering."

The idea that Howie would make this move without the assent of Sirianni is ridiculous, it's one thing for a GM to have the final say, it's quite another to hire a HC then make a major move that the new HC vehemently disagrees with. And the Eagles are a consensus organization, they'll thrash this out internally before making a move.

If they view him as Russell Wilson, this organization is in deep, deep, deep trouble.  I hope that I am wrong about Hurts, but I do not see it.

Wilson completed 64% of his passes his rookie season...going 26 td 10 int.  IDK the split for his first 4 games, but he didn't need an inflated stat game against a Hill led team just to get him over 50%.  Hurts is certainly a good kid, but a future starter that can even remotely be compared to a future HOF'r he's not.

Michael Pittman Jr. and a 1st (or 2nd) for Wentz and Ertz.  Trade back a few picks and grab Pitts.

Reagor, Pittman Jr. and Fulgham?  Goedert and Pitts -  Could be a really solid young core

Goedert and Pitts on a team with a QB who can't throw to the middle of the field. Lets go.

Well let's just get on with trading Carson.  So we can find out who the next high profile athlete this city can run out of town?

Bryce Harper

Yep. I can absolutely get on board with Pitts if Wentz is the QB. With Hurts, it's a horrible decision.

Disagree. Wentz was screwed over by Howie big time

Ben Simmons clearly in the lead here. I’m guessing harper makes a push.

Oh..."mechanics"...ok

My memory is likely off, but Carson did work with a QB coach after his rookie season and was an MVP candidate.  He hasn't since then.  I wish Carson worked as hard on his craft as he does on his hunting.  And this is coming from a Wentz lover who wants him to remain an Eagle.  But he must work on everything from footwork, arm motion, reading defenses, anticipation, every off season with a coach who can see the little things that make the big differences.  Personally, for all QBs I'd like it to be a contractual obligation, just like clauses that don't allow skiing or other high risk activities.

I don't even have to use subjective aspects like not supporting Jalen Hurts.

His refusal to address his mechanics in off-seasons, like all other QBs, is 100% on him. How "coachable" is Wentz is a hot-topic for a reason.

I have actually seen the players say that he did support him after being benched in multiple articles...what is your sourcing for that opinion? No starting QB would want someone drafted that high under him, so if you're talking about the draft timeframe...I don't think that's applicable.

The second part I agree with to a point, he has gone to QB gurus and there was stories about him working on mechanics in multiple off-seasons...just not this past one and maybe not 2019 either.

Does Howie believe Wentz is a detriment to the team moving forward?  I doubt it.  If we agree on that premise, this is how the Eagles would approach any calls from teams on a trade:

”You didn’t make the phone call unless you believe Wentz can still be a top 10-12 NFL QB for the next 5-10 years.  What is the fair price for that asset?”

It’s at least two first round picks.  I would concur with @Ipiggles — it’s a 1st and 3rd in 2021, and a 1st in 2022.  The Eagles don’t NEED to trade Wentz; other teams NEED a QB.

If Howie doesn’t hold firm, and moves Wentz for less, he’d really be doing the organization a disservice.

What really has me laughing is this whole cap situation

The problem is that we don't know that he doesn't do all of that already.   Just because it isn't published, doesn't mean it does not happen.

He also only had a torn to shreds knee and broken back he had to rehab, but lets crucify him for prioritizing rehab over mechanics.

Whether he holds firm on this or not, there is plenty of disservice in his background.  I don't trust him to handle anything really well.

Man I hate this guys face!!!!

I don't think he comes anywhere close to his 'projected' upside.  I predict a Mariota like career for him...average at best and his body can't hold up to the punishment from trying to overcompensate for his deficiencies.

we know what he can do given decent coaching, and a proper team to work with. We know 2020, he had neither and he was bad. 1 bad year with the circumstances of 2020 is the outlier if you believe in statistics.  We know he can play at a high level in the NFL when it matters.

really hard to evaluate a QB in college when WR's are so wide open.

Honestly most of these QB's, do what @HazletonEagle did last year.  Judge the QB by watching their WR's.  Lawrence has terrible accuracy.

1999 hours to go.

Definitely Simmons, it's been two years straight of people calling for the sixers to trade him

Your first line is complete BS. The rest I'll wait for you to provide proof.

Lowie signed him to an extension and less than a year later they draft a guy to replace him?  Carson's game plummeting is mostly on him, but if they have to trade him and take a deal like the Rams had to in order to get out from underneath the contract, that's solely on the FO.  Not to mention the poor cap management and not drafting weapons to support the QB they wanted to commit to long term.

Yeah...but do you have proof that he didn't do anything unprofessional????  And the circle with idiotic trolls starts again....not today.  Not me.

Honestly the fate of the franchise are in the hands of these two and i felt this way even if they didn’t trade wentz (I’ll post this out in the past they have done well  however without 2017 the last decade was 78-81-1. They were fortunate the stars aligned and they had that season otherwise that entire decade was marred with an organization right around average)

Giroux is up there too. But he still also has a bunch of backers.

Carson has publicly said he didn't need to do it.

People want to say that Mosher/Caplan are right about the organization being dysfunctional, but they're wrong when they say that Carson doesn't take well to hard-coaching.

Your point is valid about bad coaches though. I thought Doug did a terrible job this year. So many curl routes on 3rd down and over relying on isolation routes.

PROVIDE PROOF

Unlike some other things, we would know if he is doing it as it doesn't happen in a vacuum.  There are always other QBs, receivers, RBs training with them.  We would know.
