Wentz sucks and his contract is horrible but all of the rumors are of Eagles getting a bunch of picks...

Wait to you see the haul they get for Hurts next season.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

So just say team couldn’t hire a head coach until after the super bowl. You really think Todd Bowles doesn’t get any offers?

It had the best soundtrack by far.   I enjoyed that one.

I agree. Lots of shows and movies have picked up on that concept. Play good music, stick with the classics (Avengers got it right with Immigrant song)... Not a huge fan of the Umbrella Academy show on netflix(?) but i stayed around for the music.

Yup. I ****ed that their plan at WR was dumb. They legitimately just expected desean to stay healthy, rely on 3 rookie wrs, JJAW just becoming good without offseason activities and ward. Furthermore the only veteran WR they brought in was Goodwin who is also injury prone and hasn’t been good or productive since 2017.

they basically knew they need a rebuild and then decided cause of a pandemic to do a 180 with their plans (or at least they sold it).

Pederson’s whole approach on WRs was dumb.  Trying to train the WRs to play multiple positions and not focusing on their routes.  DeSean had great speed and was good at tracking long balls.  Hand catcher.   He goes down so you plug in Hightower on the same routes.  Hightower struggles with that kind of play but excelled at slants in college.  Bit of a body catcher.  That’s  just dumb.  There are only so many routes but Doug failed to differentiate his style.  Little presnap motion because he was so long in getting plays in.  You could literally see a screen before it was thrown because of how he lined up players.  Gone were the mesh plays.  Doug failed.  And if they failed to coach Carson up, that was a failure too. Yet the press is determined to reunite Wentz with Press Taylor, Passing Game Coordinator.

I was surprised he didn't get another chance. Likely will next offseason if the defense doesn't get screwed up

The numbers weren't as bad during the 2020 season, but they were still top 10 in WR, OL, DL, and TE.

You might want to double check those numbers.   On a lot of these sites, the IR contracts are a separate category.  Eagles had a ton of money on IR at WR and OL.

Eagles trade McNabb in 2010, playoffs in 2010.  Eagles trade Kevin Kolb in 2011, playoffs in 2013.  Eagles trade Nick Foles in 2014 no playoffs until 2017.  Eagles trade Bradford in 2016, playoffs in 2017.  The math checks out.

Eagles were $60M over the cap in any of those other scenarios?

When they traded mcnabb they had a good roster. They had young talent ans good veteran talent. That wasn’t a rebuild. Kolb they had vick coming off an mvp like season. So they had their QB in place. Foles trade again the roster wasn’t nearly this bad. Bunch of veterans in their prime or entering it and young guys like lane and ertz on rookie deals. This roster is old and bad and no cap space this year. And wasted draft picks.

It would be smarter than any of the new proposed Rooney Rules. They should just have a date on the calendar that no team can interview or hire any coaching positions until the day after the SB. That way everyone gets a fair shake and opportunity to interview as well as put together your coaching assistants.

Question:  if Wentz is so uncoachable, why would Flip, Reich, Groh and Press want him?

Since you mentioned that I just realized I never thought about if UK for them meant university of Kentucky or United Kingdom.

For the positional rankings, the contracts on IR (like Alshon and DeSean) are included. So those rankings for 2020 do reflect the level of investment regardless of injuries.

The 2010 Eagles had real offensive talent (Jackson, Maclin, McCoy, Celek), a good O-line and stumbled into an MVP caliber QB through luck (Vick). I have always wondered what happens if Kolb doesn't get hurt against GB in the opener -- guessing they miss the playoffs and therefore the all-in dream team moves don't happen in 2011.

For as much as the relationship between Doug and Carson soured, I'm pretty sure the relationship between Carson and Howie soured much, much more. That appears to be the primary issue here.

There is this dumb narrative going around (Twitter, Radio, EMB) that the Eagles are trying to trade for Nick Foles and would we want Nick Foles back.  Would it cause drama or stunt the growth of Hurts.    This potential trade with Chicago is not about Nick Foles.  He would only be included in the trade to help offset some of the $$ Chicago would have to bring on with Wentz.  He would be a throw in.  Some fans are so short-sighted and dumb.

Yeah, for Chicago it is about dumping salary and avoiding the drama and media BS of having those 2 on the same roster. For the Eagles, Foles' is a fine backup and mentor for Hurts. Nick has shown he can accept that role with grace.

Answer: because he is not uncoachable. He's not Jeff George or Johnny Manziel.  It could be that he, personality-wise, needs to be agree with the offense as defined by the coach in order to buy in and from the sounds of it, he wasn't with Pederson. I would guess that every one of the coaches you cited knows a side of him that is very coachable.

Anyone see Molly's Game about Jeremy Blooms sister who started running tables?  Pretty wild story and good movie.

Howie is going to be the high roller who loses it all and has to walk away from the table and we get nothing.
