A lot of businesses are like this and they underperform because of it. It will take a change of ownership to get things back on track. well that's a problem since Lurie probably isn't selling the team any time soon...

January 12, 20214 yr Lurie basically said they won't be winning in 2021, and Doug wanted to fix things and win...yet people ripped Doug for tanking in the last game.
January 12, 20214 yr Thank you Doug. I firmly believed after the chip firing that i would die and the very next year the eagles would win the SB. Seeing us hoist that Lombardi trophy was one of the best non-family related days of my life. I cried and not ashamed of it. Thank you Doug!
January 12, 20214 yr Thank you Doug Pederson, for being the coach this team needed after Chip Kelly and his culture left it in shambles, bringing us to glory with our franchise's first ever Super Bowl win. It's unfortunate that you are being used as a scapegoat in this situation, when Howie Roseman was at greater fault for this team's decline.

Besides, if the best players are being drafted two, three, four spots ahead of the Eagles it’s the GM’s job to trade up, Everyone on this board knew CD Lamb wasn’t getting past the Cowboys. That means you have to either trade ahead of them or have a backup plan. Don’t make excuses that the best players get taken ahead of you.

The Vikings laughed when Howie picked Reagor, passing on Jefferson.
January 12, 20214 yr Lurie should ask himself, if Howie gets fired do other teams in the league rush to pick him up? If the answer to that question is no (which it is) then maybe Howie hasn’t performed as well as you think.

He’s basically giving Howie a pass by saying that they mortgaged 2019 and beyond by trying to short sight a back to back situation. We all know it but he’s finally admitting that and it was honest. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t fire Howie in my mind, but it allows him to hang onto him and makes it "excusable” at least in his own mind. And you know what... I'm actually OK with that approach. Try to go back to back in 2018. But you have to balance that against the medium to long term and Howie didn't do that. And in addition the reason he kept bringing the same guys back was because he didn't draft well. If he drafts better then he doesn't need to bring as many of the older guys back.

I can’t see anyone hiring him in any sort of talent evaluation capacity. At best, he serves a role similar to what he did in 2015 under Kelly, and does contracts only. I can’t see anyone else letting him run the show.

We have no real reason to fire our coach other than he wants to win now while we are trying to build. Oh by the way we are trying to build with a guy who can’t draft. Absolutely! Nobody can come away from that press conference feeling good other than the weasel.

Because that's the reality that this organisation is going to face. 7 hours ago, Talonblood said: He has pictures of Lurie in compromising positions. I have been burning up Twitter saying that. It's probably true. No other explanation for this madness! Precisely bud. There's literally no excuse or explanation for what Lurie said yesterday. It all comes down to Howie having something on Lurie.

Spot on bud. But do you know what? They've done Doug a favour I think. This team is a sinking ship with Howie at the helm and I think after the next year or two a lot of people and teams may realise that Doug was the least of its problems.
January 12, 20214 yr The dumbest thing about the whole "we were building for the short term" comments is that howie did a crap job at that too! So he failed to build a team for the short term while neglecting the long term, so now we're supposed to trust him to build a long term roster after he's failed to bring in hardly any young talent for almost 4 drafts now. Unfortunately the fans will keep going to games because we aren't fair weather, so nothing will change. We can bish and moan all we want but we'll all still watch when we can and lurie knows it

Exactly. It's just so dumb. It was a failure by Howie on all counts.
