Is @Kz! aware DeSantis has a height problem?  I’m just asking questions.

This is the biggest problem. If I were advising DeSantis, and focused on his political future, I'd tell him to sit out 2024. I don't think he will, but let Trump lose to Biden again and hope that by 2028 he's dead or in jail. If he decided to challenge Trump, he has to go full scorched earth -- he needs to hit back in ways that will work and infuriate Trump. When Trump rails and makes up nicknames and insults, just respond that you're focused on the future and not the opinions of someone who lost to Joe Biden. When Trump calls him dumb, just calmly respond that you don't want to engage with someone who thought passing a cognitive test was an achievement. You can't be more outrageous or unhinged than Donald -- you have to slam him but do it with tact and with the attitude that you're better than him and don't care what he says. Nothing makes Trump angrier and less impactful than treating him as irrelevant.

He can't sit it out, that's just not how politics work.  You have to strike when your name is hot, if he chickens out on Trump now that's 6 years for his political star to fade  and it absolutely will.

There's something to be said for this. It was Obama's approach in 2008 when party bosses wanted him to "wait his turn" and defer to Hillary. Hillary probably would have lost to McCain lol

Fair. It cost Christie for sure. But Trump is a new element to consider.

Nice try, you had me going for a second. He's listed as 5'11 which would make him a literal giant to the soy crowd here in CVON. Funny thing is, Trump is 6'3 and in the picture below, he doesn't appear to be 4 inches shorter. While I do wish he were a bit taller, he's still my #1 until Depape throws his name into the race.

Difference is, Hilary didn't command an army of moron psychopaths, so going against her didn't carry nearly as much risk.  DeSantis could easily play it wrong and bury his higher aspirations.  It's far riskier for him to try and go toe-to-toe with the man-baby.

In fairness, Trump is probably shrinking. He's old and quite fat which leads to significant shrinkage.

Trump is nowhere near 6'3.

Obama is 6'1. Trump wears lifts.

Also, nobody ever believed Trump was 6'3". Or 239 pounds or whatever he claimed to not be labeled a obese.

So if Trump's 6'1" and DeSantis is 4 inches shorter than Trump, that puts him at about 5'9".  Kz, does that make him a legal manlet?

I'm not even trying to be hyperbolic. He's gotta be around 339. He's been pushing maximum density since he got booted form the white house.

I was going to guess 325. Fat weighs less than muscle.

Honestly, all the people who want an end to the two-party system should be cheering for the death of this party, rather than its resurrection. It's just too far-gone to be part of anything other than destruction of representative institutions. Disintegration of the GOP is the most likely path to the emergence of multiple, viable alternatives that will, in turn, force the Democrats to re-think their own approach to the electorate. It would almost surely lead to an era of prolonged Democratic control of the legislative and executive branches, but ultimately, I think the result would be a more variegated political landscape that impels us to reform our electoral process into something more responsive to 21st-Century needs. Consolidation and continued polarization of the two-party system will only lead to more inequality and a government that is increasingly ineffectual and unresponsive to the body politic, which can only lead to greater domestic strife and chaos. The minority party needs to break down and become more appealing to the majority of voters to break the monopoly on political pragmatism and sensibility that Democrats are being handed by right-wing extremism. Moving further to the fringe will only reinforce the coalesence of a left-liberal coalition driven more by fear of a common enemy than unity around common dreams.

He's definitely gained weight (100 lbs.) since he left Walter Reed Hospital. :D And no way he's 6'3. :D

president-trump-golfing.jpg

ABC reported: "Results showed the president weighed in at 244 pounds — up one pound from his last reported physical — passing the official threshold of being considered obese for at least the second year in a row."

In summary, recent medical records did not reveal that Trump weighed 322 pounds. According to the results of his latest physical, Trump weighs 244 pounds, and is 6 feet, 3 inches tall.

Good for Trump if that's true.

I would never consider voting for DeSantis either. However, if he were to leave peacefully when his term expires, and isn't a Russian stooge willing to cower on the world's stage caving to all of Putin's demands, he would be far better than Trump. I don't recall DeSantis saying anything on foreign policy one way or the other, so I have no idea how he'd be.

Bush imperialist, deep state agent, and war with Russia are all strong selling points.

It's hardly surprising that the perennial losers in the Republican establishment would use this disappointing election to try to wrest back the power that they deservedly lost by blaming it on Trump.  Then Trump decided to go out there and be himself and help them make their case.  Yo, Donald, do yourself a favor and
