January 4, 20232 yr Fourth vote is going just like the third vote, with Donalds instead of Jordan as the spoiler. Spartz voted Present
January 4, 20232 yr I know it wouldn't happen, but McCarthy should pay hard ball and get 6 Repugs to say they will vote for Jeffers if the 20 idiots do not fall in line.
January 4, 20232 yr With one present vote, threshold is down to 217. Jeffries 212, McCarthy 201, Donalds 20. No majority. There's going to be a fifth vote.

I doubt that would work. They're good with being the victims so they'd likely embrace the chance to blame something like that on McCarthy. And honestly, if they leaked that he even suggested throwing the speakership to Jefferies, it would probably sink his campaign.
January 4, 20232 yr Trump tries to look relevant, accomplishes nothing past pissing off his base, and looks feckless 🤣

Like I said, I know it wouldn't happen, but the end result of Jefferies being the speaker of the house would be fantastic if it happened.

Yeah, it would be great. But I think it's more likely that the holdouts do it. Gaetz even said he'd prefer handing it to Jefferies to McCarthy getting it.

Either way, after a disastrous mid term election, having a Dem be the Speaker in a Republican majority house would be the cherry on top.

I know, but I don't even really understand what that means procedurally. So he would get to introduce bills but obviously he wouldn't have the votes to pass them?

January 4, 20232 yr Once upon a time, the GOP won the presidency more often than they lost; from 1952-1988, the GOP won it seven out of ten times. Since then, they have won it once, and lost it seven times.

January 4, 20232 yr Donalds on Fox news right now "The house is broken" Yeah, no ish dumb @ss, we are watching it live on TV.

I think the Dems would prefer him over Jordan and after the cry fest yesterday I can't see him stepping aside. A weak McCarthy would be better for them and all they have to do is vote present.

It doesn't look like it'll be Jordan regardless, but I actually think it would be better for the Dems if the Republican speaker was as far out of the mainstream as possible. It just makes the right look crazier.
