A nation should adjust its immigration policies based on reality, not some polyanna romantic view of the nation where we can just take in endless numbers of immigrantz

virtually every industry having difficulty hiring workers right now would benefit from immigration.

if you want to pay higher prices at the grocery store and at restaurants, and continue to see the cost of new home building skyrocket, put up that wall.

Well, the 330 million people who live here aren’t all Native Americans:  so yeah, there may have been a little immigration going on.  That being said, the U.S. has a long history of nativism too.

We're in a f'ing pandemic, have tons of homeless people all over the place, high unemployment.... why on earth would ANY country allow mass immigration?  Let alone mass illegal immigration?

If our unemployment wasnt out of control, and we weren't devastated by the govt destroying our economy via the pandemic, then we could talk about increasing immigration in a strategic way.   Until then its way down the list of reasons why businesses are struggling

There have been periods of mass migration and periods of very little migration in this country's history.  Usually based on merit or need.

Spare me the white mans guilt about native americans, it has no bearing on this discussion whatsoever

businesses are struggling to find workers. demand for goods and services is outpacing supply, which is why we're seeing prices rise.

this is economics 101.

increased immigration isn't a panacea. but it would help the labor market to stabilize the workforce in some of these areas.

The topic of discussion was that he is also advocating an end to LEGAL immigration and bragged about ruining the lives of refugees.  Shes framing it as some great evil that only she and her ilk can save us from.  Classic.

As far as immigration levels, sure it's fluctuated.  Just like nativist sentiment has.  At times the U.S. have moved to restrict immigration other times it's encouraged it.  No argument there.

Yeah, FDR limited immigration when Jews were trying to flee Europe. Italian immigrants assaulted the Irish immigrants arriving on the docks of New York during the Civil War. Nothing like immigrants opposing other immigrants from coming to the USA.
