Beyond protecting the stupid civilians that refuse vaccination, or the immunocompromised for whom vaccines are less effective, cops also need to protect themselves. Cops are dying from covid 5x as often as they are dying from gunfire. It's literally the leading cause of death among all cops right now, and about 5% that don't die from it are dealing with long covid. This is a workplace health issue as much as it is a public health issue.

You are ok with them taking risk of gunfire but not the risk of Covid. I'm going to say that you didn't know the numbers of deaths by gunfire before this whole vaccine mess and probably didn't care. And before anyone labels me as anti-vaccine, I have been fully vaccinated but believe that it is each person's right to decide for themselves if they should get the vaccine or not. Should people with natural immunity also be forced to be vaccinated? If so, for what reason? Does the science say natural immunity is less effective than the vaccines? Neither eliminate the risk of infection but what have the studies shown regarding natural immunity? There should be a choice of either getting the vaccine or routine Covid testing for those that don't want to be vaccinated and to fire the very people (nurses, doctors, law enforcement, etc.) who worked through the pandemic when vaccines weren't available is a disgrace.
