Listen, just be happy anyone engages with the drivel you post at all. Begging for attention is a bad look.

New Coronavirus Variant a ‘Serious Concern’ in South Africa

The new variant is likely to have evolved during a chronic infection of an immuno-compromised person, possibly in an untreated HIV/AIDS patient, Francois Balloux, director of the UCL Genetics Institute, said in a statement published by the Science Media Centre. The world’s biggest number of HIV cases has complicated South Africa’s efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic, as immuno-compromised people can harbor the virus for longer, scientists say.

Omicron, now officially listed as a VOC, for a total of 5, and the first shown to be able to outcompete Delta.

There is no evidence vaccines do not work

Xenophobia for me but not for thee.......

President Joe Biden has imposed  travel restrictions into the United States due to coronavirus fears despite previously slamming former President Trump as xenophobic for doing the same thing in 2020.

Not much proof of them working either.

The preliminary report revealed all four [patients] had been previously vaccinated for COVID-19.

Travel restrictions are pointless. New variant already here most likely

If current vaccines do not work it is a complete disaster. Moderna is saying 60-90 days just before testing then it will take many more months just to get the same number of people vaccinated. That said there is no evidence vaccines are ineffective

In vitro testing should give us results in 10-14 days to see if nAbs elicited by current vaccines can bind and neutralize this variant. If not, it's roughly a 3-month process to develop and trial a targeted booster using the sequence from this variant. This is where the mRNA platform gives us an advantage in the cat and mouse game. Let's hope it never comes to that though.

As for Gottlieb's comments, at worst he's implying that those with natural immunity from a Delta infection can be reinfected with this variant, possibly those who've been vaccinated too. At best, he's saying it's just pure luck that this happened to emerge just as Delta was fading. The latter scenario is possible due to founder effect, but I don't see that as likely given all other variants that had been successfully stomped out by Delta until this one came along. It's presumably already been seeded in Israel and Belgium now so we'll know more in about a week.

Depends what you’re claiming the "work” is.

Personal observations are that it's subjective. Only ones missing work so far are the vaccinated.

Now, weeks later, the New England Journal of Medicine is suggesting a similar situation.  The spike proteins produced by the COVID-19 vaccines may lead to myocarditis and neurological concerns.

They are better conditioned than most US athletes. And while trying to draw penalties through fouls is definitely a bad part of the game, these non contact incidents are involving heart and respiratory issues. Incidents are way up to the point where star players are collapsing on the field and data scientists are becoming concerned.

That latest incident happened in the biggest club competition in the world against the most famous sports team in the world. It would be like if someone collapsed in the NBA playoffs against the Lakers or in the MLB playoffs against the Yankees and if it happened after lots of players had collapsed including a few globally recognized stars.

This is the fear no one wants to talk about:

More likely related to an asymptomatic covid infection, or a previously undiagnosed heart condition, than from a recently administered vaccine.

But if you'd rather believe Alex Berenson's take, then by all means go for it.

None of the 3 recent soccer incidents this week/month has been directly related to Covid vaccination or myocarditis. They haven’t even said that’s what it was in any of the ones recently.  But you wanna believe some Twatter doc, go for it.

There's isn't a whole lot to go on for now,  unfortunately. Bit of a sample size issue, but hopefully we get a bit more clarity next week. My gut reaction is to lean to the side of concern though since we haven't seen anything outcompete Delta like this, but exactly how concerning is hard to say. I thought for sure all future variants would be Delta sub-lineages, so this being so far removed could present a problem in terms of its ability to evade immunity.

Explain to me how this vaccine differs from traditional vaccines in a way that leads you to believe that they don't "work".

You linked an article that mentions myocarditis as a possible side effect of the vaccine which is also the side effect of other vaccines, and could also be associated with many other things.  I’m not here arguing that myocarditis isn’t a thing.  I’m talking specifically about the soccer "there goes another one” comments.  None of them were linked.

If you eat cupcakes you could potentially become fat. Not definitely,  but maybe.

I never said they don't work. I said it depends on how you define what you mean by "work."

For instance, I claim they do "work" because they lower symptoms when infected.

But some people claim they prevent infection entirely. Other people claim they prevent transmission. If that's how you're claiming they "work" then they don't "work."
