One doc's anecdotal experience may differ from another's, but across a whole province, it should vary less. Further less once you view it on a national basis. Though again I'll caution that SA has many confounding factors and there are still open questions for the degree of reduced severity and its role as direct competition to delta. For example, if omicron spreads twice as fast as delta, the disease reduction for a given population must match or exceed that amount for this (and omicron must also confer immunity to delta infections) for this to be a net benefit. Meaning if Delta sends 4% of people of infected people to the hospital, then omicron must be less than 2%.
