So according to this article, molnupiravir was forced through despite a RCT of 1400+ patients that showed a reduction in hospitalization and death of about 7%, but Fluvoxamine, an SSRI that should have no logical mechanism of action that should affect a virus, is being suppressed because of a RCT of 140 patients who had an 8% decrease in symptoms of shortness of breath

Literally the final paragraph of the study they're quoting:

"Conclusions and Relevance In this preliminary study of adult outpatients with symptomatic COVID-19, patients treated with fluvoxamine, compared with placebo, had a lower likelihood of clinical deterioration over 15 days. However, the study is limited by a small sample size and short follow-up duration, and determination of clinical efficacy would require larger randomized trials with more definitive outcome measures."

 anything to try and prove your narrative. Nice try though Black Beauty.

So, the vaccine is rolled out too fast, but why can't we take horse paste today!?!?!?

Sound medical position.

The topic of treatment is separate and apart from prevention.  You won't find too many people on this thread who discount the importance of effective treatment after infection, although there are a few who feel treatment options should be limited to the vaccinated.

You can make argument that Ivermectin is not an effective element of a treatment program, but that doesn't address the issue of inadequate dissemination of treatment options and information about treatment.

No one has said that. I and others support allowing insurance companies to deny reimbursement for treatment of unvaccinated people (who are eligible to be vaccinated and choose not to be). That doesn't mean "treatment options should be limited to the vaccinated." It means unvaccinated people will have to pay for it themselves, or find charity, etc.

It's not my fault if anti-vax clowns also tend to be poor.

Yes. Along with food and clean drinking water.

It is also hardly surprising that products not intended for use in fighting viri, or treating the symptoms of COVID, are not getting much attention; ie, serious studies. The fact that anybody takes look at horse dewormer seriously, or malaria treatments, is pretty amazing - also very limited. Probably no 25,000 patient studies using Pop-Tarts as treatment, either.

Yup. Meanwhile paxlovid has literally made headlines globally over the past few weeks for its remarkable effectiveness as a treatment option, even surpassing mAbs which appear less effective against omicron, but Bronco Billy over here is still queefing about treatment options being suppressed.

It's almost as if antivirals are the best treatment options for viruses. Must be a conspiracy.

Whatever happened to Hydroxychloroquine?  Feels like a trivia question in the same pile with Right Said Fred.

Trump didn't even have the advantage of the vaccines he created and he never let it get this high.

When I was in 9th garde I bought a role playing game called "Megatraveller" at a game story in the mall. I hought it was cool cause it was in space but I vouldn'y get any one to play it with me so I wrote a program in BASIC on my Apple IIe that created characters with their lame ass randim seed and also ships and stuff.

Now I download pdf versions of textbooks to read for pleasure and I also screw around with Python trying to come up with a horse betting system

I can't cALL myself an OG but if one of you would nominate me me thhatd be awesome

I wrote a bunch of stuff like that in BASIC on the same computer I inherited from a cousin I barely knew. I remember making a Pong clone for sure in 6th grade.

Werd. I basically earned the teardrop tattoo under my eye with that one simple game.

Time to stop focusing on cases Among the vaccinated and focus on hospitalizations which are far below last year at least here but that fact gets buried along the constant case numbers. The unvaxxed have had a year now to do the proper thing. I really hope the dem politicians grasp this soon or they are going to get destroyed next year.

DR. MARTY MAKARY ( Johns Hopkins University ) We're seeing this massive new wave of fear that is fueling our second pandemic after COVID-19, which is a pandemic of lunacy, which is omicron. Now I call it omi-cold. If you look at the epidemiological data, the epicenter is now way down from omicron. The hospitals had some hospitalizations, not much. They were short. They averaged two and a half days instead of eight days. But a study just came out of the University of Hong Kong telling us that omicron does not invade the lung tissue that's deep in the respiratory tract. It stays superficial in the nose and bronchus. So that's why we're seeing a common cold-like illness. This new scientific data from the lab explains the epidemiological data and the bedside observation of doctors that this is far more mild… and that's why I call it omi-cold. It depends what headline you want, what message you want to send, I can recast any respiratory virus as a potential bubonic plague that's going to destroy the United States. It's just how you present the statistics.

We've got to reduce testing in low-risk situations. If you test everyone in the United States, you will find a virus particle in the nose of some fraction of Americans forever. … We can't go hunting for a problem that is a very mild or asymptomatic illness.

In all likelihood the democrats are going to get destroyed next year. Its cyclical and it's going to be a really bad cycle.

Day to day life just doesn't support the hype being manufactured over omicrom.

I wouldn't mind contracting it after Christmas myself.

At this point it is guaranteed but things can change in a year but one big change needs to keep fauci off TV. He is a terrible messenger
