The period during which you can pass the virus on is much shorter on average when you're vaccinated. 

Unvaccinated may pass on the virus to 5-6 people where a vaccinated person may only pass it on to 2-3. That's a HUGE difference in terms of controlling the spread.

Exactly. It's low risk for anyone who's been boosted. But unfortunately we live in a country of idiots, where about 40% still aren't vaccinated, and of those who have been only a quarter have been boosted.

So if something is 3x as transmissible but even a third less virulent, you can do the math and see why it's gonna be a problem collectively.

Governors likely won't sit on their hands and let their healthcare systems crash across the state.

I see that last night all the ishlibs in here suddenly became virtuous when someone's friend's father died from Covid - after months of wishing death upon every unvaccinated person in the country  This place never disappoints

Right?  I mean we're 2 years into this thing now.  That is more than enough time to change your lifestyle - eat healthier, exercise, etc.  Take a daily vitamin.  Eat more green vegetables.
