What we're just now finding out nearly two years after the fact is that everyone admitted to the hospital for any reason who tests positive for coronavirus is added to the "covid hospitalization" list. So, yes, people who broke their legs in a car crash are tested for coronavirus and if they test positive, they're added to the "covid hospitalization" list regardless of whether or not they have symptoms. It's incredibly flawed since we've been using that data to make policy decisions. Right but that doesn’t make it a purposeful fudging of numbers that the conspiracy theory suggests. And if you go to look at the reporting, they split the hospitalization numbers into severe/icu and mild cases. So there shouldn’t be any question of how severe the issue is. I’m willing to bet that there are a great number of people out there with significant symptoms that aren’t even going to the hospital. My wife had to visit urgent care (not for Covid) and there were 50 people in line for Covid testing and complications. At this point, the number of hospitalizations down but it could probably be way higher if people actually went to the hospital. They arent going because they’re being told they’re over run and there’s no room. in any case, changing "from” to "with” in my opinion won’t do anything to the overall numbers and certainly won’t impact the capacity of a hospital. You’re there, with or from, doesn’t matter, you’re taking up a bed.

It's a purposeful misrepresentation about the severity of Covid to report all hospitalizations "with covid" as Covid hospitalizations and then allow the media to run with that number to stoke fear and impact our policy decisions. The fact that this is coming out nearly two years later is astounding.

Something caused all the excess mortality observed globally in 2020/21, and you can't explain it away by saying they were just incidental positives. Likewise, an overrun hospital is still an overrun hospital and something has been causing all these hospitals to be overrun. Nothing the trumpbots will provide can explain away the ICU numbers in states like OH and IL.
January 4, 20224 yr Deaths - Numbers all over the world are very low in terms of deaths from Omicron. Keep in mind that some places are still seeing Delta led waves though so COVID is still causing a lot of people to die. Hospitalizations - It is important to rule out the effects of a bad flu season and to keep in mind that numbers often or usually include "with COVID" in this category just as we've heard from many officials lately including Fauci and also leading NY State officials. Of course Omicron is also adding to overall loads on hospitals as well. Also, remember that even if Omicron isn't the leading contributor it will cause problem by adding chunks of patients to hospitals that may already be under a lot of pressure form both Delta and normal flu based cases.
January 4, 20224 yr As for Delta, it's basically been crowded out, with only 5% of newly sequenced cases now. The one good thing is that omicron does in fact seem to provide immunity against delta. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/588164-cdc-omicron-now-95-percent-of-new-us-covid-19-cases

You’re there, with or from, doesn’t matter, you’re taking up a bed. This puts us right back to the "flatten the curve" discussion which in my mind was always where the focus should have been. Our capacity never was setup to handle a surge of COVID patients. This year we are seeing a really bad flu season party due to the super mild season last year plus the vaccine isn't as effective as it normally is this year. Add a surge (even if it is small) from Omicron and that constitutes a problem. Having said that, there is absolutely a need to start dialing down the hysteria the further we get into the Omicron data which all points to super mild cases. We can look at the UK, South Africa, Denmark, wherever and the story so far is the same. We are already seeing the turn in the communication in the US via the WH, Fauci, some state officials, etc. The fat lady isn't singing yet but things are looking increasingly positive.
January 4, 20224 yr Even the NY Times is trying to walk back the insanity, finally admitting that children are not, at all, at serious risk from Covid: They're too late, though. They've already turned the country of ishlibs into terrified children. It's going to take years to undo what they've done to these people psychologically.

They do it with the flu, the snow storms, the humidity levels, etc. but That’s an entirely different conversation. you just need to look at the data and have a functioning brain cell to understand it. You have repeatedly and incessantly proven that you do not comprehend the basic data that’s accessible to anyone. You get your talking points from twatter and 75% of those posts are self own level…..Sorry I know you need help here so, 75% is 3 out of every 4. Or in more simpler terms the % of time you spend circle jerking with your poker hicks.
