January 5, 20223 yr https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10364503/Denmark-health-chief-says-Omicron-bringing-END-pandemic.html Quote Denmark health chief says Omicron is bringing about the END of the pandemic and 'we will have our normal lives back in two months' Hmm, let's see, who do I believe? Some dude with a little-man complex on the Eagles Message Board who has been laughably wrong about virtually everything since the pandemic started or Denmark's chief epidemiologist at the State Serum Institute. This one is tough.

January 5, 20223 yr "In the last two weeks, we’ve stood up federal testing sites all over the country, and we’re adding more each and every day,” Biden said prior to a meeting with his COVID response team. Testing sites are slammed everywhere here. This administration has left a lot to be desired with their responses to this. Oh and the CDC is dumb too for dropping the isolation period guidance without a test out requirement. Fails all around.

If I had to guess people in charge thought the vaccine was going to beat Covid. And I don’t think they understood the demand for tests was going to come from vaccinated folks. Just my 2 cents

And with almost 40% still unvaccinated, it is obvious now that we aren't gonna beat this with vaccines alone. In the spring last year, I thought we could hit 65%-70% fully vaxed by late fall / early winter and I was wrong. Vastly underestimating how many morons live in this country. And that was before Delta blew the concept of attainable herd immunity to tiny bits.

January 5, 20223 yr U.S. finalizing purchase of COVID tests, to be distributed for free https://www.reuters.com/world/us/biden-administration-finalizing-purchase-covid-tests-be-distributed-free-2022-01-04/ Talk about reactive instead of proactive. This offer was on the table in October and they declined it. I am also curious on the distribution of these. Do they send them to houses or expect us to wait on line? We all know people will try to get hundreds and re sell them

Two months is aggressive, and it assumes no further variants pop up. I'm done spiking the ball at the 50, I did it before Delta and again before omicron. With something causing 2-3x the number of infections, the chances for mutations go up by that much alone. But back to your fail, ready to quote the posts now?

Even without the knowledge of omicron, delta was still a looming concern heading into winter with so many still unvaxxed. I honestly don't know wtf they were thinking.

Second, demand for the vaccine. Smh…

Yeah, if we just vaccinated a little harder we could be like Denmark or any other number of European countries that are now shattering daily case records with around 80% vaxxed. It's so weird that people still act like these vaccines are some kind of miracle answer. Fortunately, as many experts around the country attest, Omicron has proven so incredibly mild that it's our lifeline to herd immunity. We simply don't need perpetual doses of mRNA injections, and that's a great thing.

We all know people will try to get hundreds and re sell them It looks like Federal government will set up a website to order tests. Then I presume they will be mailed to you. Last month the local health dept. was handing out tests at libraries and such: 2 per person. They'd have a few hundred, then run out in minutes. I grabbed 2 and I am hoarding them like my precious. 500 million tests is a good start, about 2 tests per person... However, there are people taking tests weekly, or more often. They're going to need more if this wave keeps up.
