A mongoloid?

If your food needs condiments, then the food sucks.

Some kids are definitely suffering anxiety as a result of the pandemic, I'm just not sure that this girl is an example. It might seem odd for her to be more comfortable in the mask at home, but the reality is that, if you do something, anything, for such a long time, it will begin to feel normal to the point that the old normal feels weird. So, if you've worn a mask every day for two years, it becomes something you don't notice, but when you're not wearing a mask, it becomes very noticeable to a person who's used to wearing one. It's like always having a phone in your pocket, and then one day, you leave it in the other room and you can't stop noticing how empty your pocket is.

So is that a good thing for kids to have normalized?

I think it's largely innocuous. Maybe a little sad, I guess, that it came to this and is now a sign of the times, but I don't think it's generally a cause for concern unless the kid really is exhibiting some kind of traumatic reaction to being maskless. There might be an adjustment period for some that presents some challenges, but most kids are pretty resilient and should be able to overcome it relatively quickly.

Yeah I guess "most kids" will be fine.

We can have a conversation about kids dealing with stress and trauma from the pandemic, but I think that's a separate discussion. The article I posted talks about a girl that seems perfectly happy and unperturbed by continuing to wear a mask, and part of the reason I posted it was because I knew some people would react with disgust simply because someone else was wearing a mask voluntarily. Masks seem to cause this unique reaction in some people where they get upset over other's personal choices like nothing else I've ever seen. Fully grown adults get shamed, peer-pressured, and even overtly harassed in public for choosing to wear a mask. I've stayed in through most of this but I went to a bar in the winter of 2020 since my brother was in town and before anyone could be vaccinated. Had a couple drinks, but i had a mask on unless I was actively drinking. At one point, I went up to the bar to order, and some d-bag got all aggressive and shouted at me "Why the hell are you wearing a mask!" I said "Just trying to be safe, buddy!" and walked away. What I really wanted to say a "Why the hell does it matter to you!" That guy's outburst was definitely odd considering that you'd never encounter it for wearing anything else, whether it be a garment, hat, etc.

Hey they are talking about condiments here now! What does horseradish do for covid?

Makes it spicy and delicious

Kids really aren't fazed by masks. They understand they are protecting others.

It's the adults who are bothered by them. I don't know why.

You guys have that one random kid in middle school/highschool who would put mayo on their fries?

I feel like every school had one.

That's fine.  I jumped during the discussion about anxiety in kids.  If you want to hold with that one we can.

Ketchup on fries or burgers, nothing else

If I eat a hot dog, which isn't often, it is with mustard and if it is an option chili

@vikas83 You are from Cappriottis land.  At some point you must have had one of their turkey subs with real roasted turkey just like you'd find at Thanksgiving.  I always thought those were pretty good.

Oh yeah, loved them growing up. Their cheesesteaks too.

They have Capriotti's franchises in Los Angeles, but they aren't nearly as good.

The Philly hoagie scene doesn't travel well.  What's the problem?  The rolls?

This is the default way to eat them in Germany. My colleagues would always remind me to ask the server for a side of ketchup knowing that I would forget to ask.

I see the disgusting people that mix their ketchup with mayo and now Heinz makes a ketchup mayo mix .. 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Rolls and the overall meat quality

Gross. Germany is where I discovered my favorite condiment: curry ketchup. Love that stuff, although the cheap brands are way too sweet.

There was a guy here a little while ago that I was talking to, and he actually prefers the taste of bottled BBQ sauce over real homemade sauce. What a weirdo IMO.
