I actually haven’t eaten inside a restaurant in over six months, and if I had to guess there’s a bunch of other people on here in the same boat.

That seems a bit much to me. Are you or your wife in a high risk group?

Same. The spread diagrams from outbreaks in restaurants early on were pretty alarming. The new protocols out there now makes things a lot safer for sure but you're still relying on too many patrons and benefit-less employees following the protocols for my liking. I've done outdoor dining though so a bit of an arbitrary cut off.

It's not about being concerned about my own health really.  If I get sick my whole office and hundreds of patients gotta get tested and quarantined. Same for the wife. Not really fair to them.

Ftr, I’ve also sat on a patio, just not actually inside a restaurant.

If you want to feel sick, search for all the opened schools quickly doing an about face after COVID outbreaks.

Like there was any other possible outcome. US adults can't social distance and wear PPE properly. No surprise their kids don't either.

so true.  many adults just flat out refuse to do it.  at my son''s soccer game this past saturday, only around 70% of the people watching were wearing masks...and there was no social distancing.

Since they ran through the whole alphabet for hurricane names (they actually stop at W), the tropical storm hitting Texas today is called Beta.  Reminded me of this board

As opposed to an Alpha cuck? Seems redundant. Like a submissive gimp.

I like that the hurricane naming system was invented by an Aussie who used the names of politicians he didn't like.

We haven't eaten indoors.  The closest exceptions that are coming to mind is having a beer in a large brewery with only one other couple inside, this weekend we went to the Market and ate on an open air patio, and a third thing

Of course it is all about risk and there is always a level of risk with anything including going to a store, walking along a path, buying groceries, ordering takeout, and eating in a restaurant. With proper hygiene, distancing, etc the risk lowers.  There is no magic perfect formula that can be applied especially given that the disease might spread thru the air.

The biggest difference from the first 4 examples vs your 5th example is that they can be done while wearing a mask. I agree with Redfield's position that wearing a mask is the single best thing you can do to protect yourself, including taking one of the initial vaccine candidates likely to be approved and begin distribution by Spring '21.

Yup, we all gotta look at the risk/benefit ratio.  I order what I can but in order to get all my food I need to go to the store occasionally.  The risk of exposure being outside for grabbing a drink or walking a path is low and it's easy to separate from people and slip on a mask.  But when pretty much every restaurant in my state is open for takeout (cocktails included) I find it hard to justify the increased risk of eating indoors right now given the number of contacts I have in a day for work. Especially given how many absolute dumbells I've seen completely incapable of understanding distancing and how to cover their nose with a mask.

If I lived in the middle of nowhere with very few cases and limited food options I may feel differently though. Or if I trusted other people.

Cases are going way up here. Hospitalizations, ICU and deaths have remained pretty flat. Let's see where this is 2 weeks from now.

A few weeks ago I mentioned two exceptions.  I forgot what one of them was.
