Trying out a fresh start

Also don't want everyone to know I live on the boards lol

Didn't know they were in Michigan. Really surprised they're in Illinois. Very curious how close they are to Chicago lol

Update when you get results please

Results in:  Negative for COVID 19 antibody

Much faster than what they told me.  Less than 24 hours from blood test to result.

If you want to get one, just confirm with your health plan that they will cover it, get a script from your PCP and go to quest diagnostic.

Going to let my dashing and irresistible demeanor drop for a moment and get real with you all.  This whole Covid-19 crap-show did not turn out like I expected.  I felt reason and common sense would prevail, but wow, did I miss that one.

But you might say, "Parrot, you sexy man beast…are you telling me you’re losing hope?”  Well, let’s just say its hard to be my chipper self when I’m treated like a leper and employment is about as unstable as the mind of a Gender Studies graduate.  And since there’s not jack-squat I can do about the insanity around me, I felt it best to find ways to not go certifiably insane.  One was observing the idiots around me.  Care to join me on my study?

The problem with social media is that it gives a soapbox to those who haven’t learned basic interpersonal skills.  But alas, such is the world we now live in.  And while I understand the benefits of remaining engaged, a good deal of you are being unmitigated ****.  Allow me to elaborate.

Posting snarky comments such as "Stay Indoors!”, or "Just listen and this will be over quicker!”, do nothing to make anyone respect you.  In fact, by any metric you are a self-righteous rectal-orifice.

Humans are not robots.  So when you sit and tell those around you to deactivate like a Star Trek android for a couple months, you are effectively encouraging a mental health pandemic.  And when you beg everyone to "listen”, I see you as a government shill that would sell your freedom and the freedom of those around you for a bag of magic beans.  Listen Dr. Phil…I know what’s going on and don’t need your "inspirational” posters.  Thank the Almighty for 30-day Facebook mutes.

Your Fellow Man is NOT your Enemy

Gotta give the media credit, they have effectively turned us all against each other by militarizing fear.

If you’re one of those pieces of sub-human debris who calls the authorities because you think too many people are together, then I pity you.  While you may think you’re a hero, the truth is you have made the world a worse place.

Quick Harold, call 911! The Henderson's are watching a movie together and eating from the same popcorn bowl!

There have been requests by the police in my district that people NOT call 911 when they see 4 people in a car.  FOUR?  My family alone would make up six.  It says a lot that you desire to be a member of the self-appointed "secret police” by ratting out your fellow man without knowing the full story.  Is it a large family that would be together anyway?  Is someone in desperate need of contact because they are truly going to harm themselves?  Maybe they all had the virus and are now immune.  Or maybe some don’t have the same level of unreasonable fear you do.  Or, and this might be hard to believe…it’s none of your filthy business and you don’t deserve to know.  It doesn’t matter though, does it?  Just as long as that picture of Stalin on the wall smiles back at you, then the ends justify the means.

Ignoring Mental Casualties

I’m likely going to write more on this in the days and weeks ahead, because make no mistake…we are headed towards a mental health crisis of the likes not seen since the Great Depression.  If you think throwing a massive chunk of the world into unemployment and bankruptcy isn’t going to result in a secondary wave of deaths, then you’re already crazy.

It galls me to no end how many claim anything is permissible if it saves lives.  Not for one second do I believe their motives are pure.  But assuming they are, they are misguided to a baffling degree.  There’s more than one way to kill a man.  I know basement dwellers who have no motivation may balk at this, but trust me…there are worse things than death.

Bottom line, we have to find a way to co-exist with this virus.  It won’t go away no matter how long we quarantine.  Odds are nearly everyone is going to get it.  Odds are you may already have and are acting like a panicking hamster, despite being unknowingly immune.  As death projections continue to drop as more data is collected, its going to be real interesting what the final analysis of this debacle is.

Kinda... although i think i would have felt better if i knew that I had it back in February and was able to get through it with not much difficulty.

These stores and businesses being angry that their governors wont let them open....Shouldn't they be angry that the government isnt supporting them at this time and keeping them afloat while they have to be closed?

To me the failing is not with shutting down too many businesses and not allowing them to open fast enough, but the inability of the government to effectively assist these companies when they have to be closed.

Florida is in for a world of hurt... Beaches reopen and packed.  Restaurants open with 25/50% capacity limits, but still packed. All stores reopen and packed. Traffic is a cluster F again as everyone is out and about...

Beaches are opened, with the social distancing measures in place. (If you lived within walking or bicycling distance of the beach you could have always gone there, so it never really closed......just beach parking closed.) Restaurants opened at a 25% max capacity. Traffic is light with snowbirds back up north.
Now, whether or not people adhere to the distancing standard or not, we shall find out. But for the most part, other than Miami-Dade, COVID diagnosis has been below predictions.

we have procedures in place...temp taken upon entering the building, social distancing, cleaning procedures, masks are mandatory,...although idk if folks will wear them in their own offices unless someone else is in there.  should be fun.

Yeah, I've implemented all of those at my office as well.  We are also on a 2 days from home/1 day in office schedule to break our 70ish main branch staff down to only about 23 people per day in the office at any given time.  Knock on wood, out of 200 administrative staff and 6k home caregivers in the state of PA, we've only had 3 confirmed cases, and all were on the milder side.

Fold a tissue horizontally and place it at the top of the mask right where it hits the bridge of your nose.  Helps absorb the moisture before it hits your glasses.  Not too thick so the mask is bulging outward though.

My wife does this, and it does help.  Also soapy water I read helps as well, plus there are anti fog wipes that paintballers use that can be very good.

For sure.  You want those anti-bodies.  Do you know anything about the accuracy of those tests?

Fair warning, the antibody tests out there have been wildly inaccurate. The market was flooded with different types of many of which are not FDA authorized, and while some of them are pretty solid I'd go as far as to say that a majority of them are not up to the standard of any test we would use/approve outside of a pandemic by a pretty significant marigin.

FWIW I do believe most of the issues how revolved around false positives however (opposite of the nasal swab testing).

The most reputable one i could find was through Quest Diagnostic.  I know there are some shady shadesters out there but I figured I wasn't going to do a mail in job when i want to know the answers.

So over here we are starting to talk about the virus having been here a good bit earlier than we thought.  There is a fully confirmed case in France now of a guy testing 100% positive based on a test of blood taken on Dec 27th.  The test wasn't done until recently.  In Sweden the authorities are starting to speculate that the virus has been here since as far back as November.

WHO urges countries to investigate early COVID-19 cases

By Emma Farge and Stephanie Nebehay

GENEVA (Reuters) - The World Health Organization said on Tuesday that a report that COVID-19 had emerged in December in France, sooner than previously thought, was "not surprising", and urged countries to investigate any other early suspicious cases.

The disease later identified as COVID-19 was first reported by Chinese authorities to the WHO on 31 December and was not previously believed to have spread to Europe until January.

"This gives a whole new picture on everything," WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told a U.N. briefing in Geneva, referring to the French reports.

"The findings help to better understand the potential virus circulation of COVID-19," he added, saying other possible earlier cases could emerge after retesting samples.

A French hospital which has retested old samples from pneumonia patients discovered that it treated a man who had COVID-19 as early as Dec. 27, nearly a month before the French government confirmed its first cases.

Lindmeier encouraged other countries to check records for pneumonia cases of unspecified origin in late 2019, saying this would give the world a "new and clearer picture" of the outbreak.

Asked about the origins of the virus in China, Lindmeier stressed that it was "really, really important" to explore this.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo alleges his country has "evidence" that the new coronavirus emerged from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, although scientists have advised the WHO that it is of animal origin.

"That may need further missions or a mission (to China) so we are looking forward to this," Lindmeier said.

WHO's top emergencies expert Dr. Mike Ryan said on Monday that the body's chief had raised the issue of the origins of the virus "at the highest level" during a WHO mission to China in January.

Well I have to go to work everyday regardless and wear a mask if I want to continue to keep my job. So I have to deal with it no matter what they do. All I'm saying is I'm burned out from it as a lot of essential workers are right now.

Right, here in Virginia we haven't been mandated to wear a masks and thus far I've never worn one and won't wear on unless my job is threatened.

I hope Pfizer's experimental vaccine works like a charm.

No, I just never believed their lies.

What convinced me they were lying arses was when when they said one can catch the virus, recover from it and still pass it on to others.

I was like, hold on Baba Looey, that like saying someone can catch a cold from me when I don't even have a cold!!

Stop being humble. You're an incredible example of spirit and perseverance. No one is going to stop you from showing your entire face in public for all the world to see.

I'm sure you heard about the woman that ran into a tree and died because she passed out while driving due to a lack of oxygen caused by wearing a mask.

I hate to say it but Americans are really stoopid........before the clowns reply, I know how to spell stupid.
