I don’t buy conspiracy. He lost the first debate. I would think he’d want to recover from that as quickly as possible. This hurts him even more after making fun for Biden for wearing masks all the time.

Yup. Besides, Trump doesn’t play chess. It’s all checkers. He couldn’t possibly keep up with this charade for more than a couple of days before moving on to the next grift.

The interesting thing is he absolutely will not want people to hear him sick or struggling so he’ll stick to Twitter. If he’s asymptomatic he’ll probably call into Fox News everyday as some show of strength.

That would be truly evil. If he's lying about this, he can go to hell, because that'll be where he belongs.

Spoiler alert: He already belongs there.

No, that would be insane. This ain't the time for parlor tricks to try to win political points. It'll be convalescent plasma, remdesivir, and then dexamethasone if his condition worsens. The actual doctors aren't stupid like him or you.

Come on, he knows better than the doctors the same way he knows better than the generals.

From what I could see, pretty much everyone on the Trump side of the debate was maskless.

I am trying really hard not to.

A lot of people I know are sure this is a scam. He is lying and will say he beat it easily but has to miss the debates.

Did it do anything?

Lol no.  I come home from the gym at night.  My roommate has made a huge bowl Carmel popcorn.  I LOOOOVE Carmel popcorn. Now mind you, I’m boxing at this point.  So very very strict diet, very limited indulgences.  But A few kernals of Carmel popcorn? Perfect, indulges my sweet tooth and few calories.

Now, my roommate smoked pot all the time, but I didn’t realize he also did the food thing so I’m thinking this is just regular popcorn.  And he knows that I’ve never done any drugs outside of drinking.
So I go over and ask if I can have some, he looks at me, pauses, and is like "ehhhh nah I’m sorry Im just keeping this for me”. And I’m taken aback, that’s not like him to be stingy. So now I’m like, "come on man, it smells sooo good I only want a few kernels, you have a giant bowl here.  I’d share with you if roles were reversed.”   Again he pauses, thinks about it, and is like, "ok but just a few kernels ok?”   I say thank you, take a few and go into my room.  I’m still kind of miffed that he was so stingy about giving me a few kernels of popcorn, but whatevs.

next morning I wake up, go into the living room, my other roommate is there:

Roommate: sooo I heard you popped your weed cherry last night.

me: ??? What are you talking about?
roommate:I heard you had some of <name>’s popcorn

Me: yea and?

roommate:   it was "special” popcorn

me: well yeah it was Carmel popcorn, so sure I guess you could say it was special.

roommate: (shakes head), no it was "special”, as in weed.

me: no....no no that can’t be.   No no *insert Michael Scott gif Noooooooooooo

I run into my other roommates room

me: You let me eat weed popcorn?!?! You know I don’t do that!

roommate: well that’s why I told you I wasn’t going to give you any, but you kept on pressuring me soooo.....

me: what if I had gotten high?!

roommate: A few kernels weren’t going to get you high.  And if they did, then good for you.

Me: ..................

Some dudes see some popcorn and partake, other dudes walk into a room with their friends snorting ketamine and say "why the hell not?".  We all give into peer pressure at some level

Nobody gets high the first time. Because even if you had a slight buzz, you probably didn't know what you were feeling.

Short term memory loss is a sign of chronic use.

I remember getting high if I stopped smoking cigarettes for a two weeks if I had a bad cold. That first one made you loopy.

This.  I was WRECKED the first time I smoked  Then again I smoked a lot that first time - dive right in the deep end, right?

I have to say, it would be an interesting twist if a bunch of mask-flouting Republicans came down with COVID-19 throughout October and were not able to cobble together enough to confirm ACB.

Watching that, contact tracing is going to be a MF'er.  I did see one person who most likely will not get it though.

They'd vote from their hospital beds.  No way they don't force her through.

Are they able to? I believe it has to be a floor vote does it not?

If they don't have Murkowski or Collins, and Lee and say one or two other senators are unable to vote in person, I dunno. Crazier things have happened.

I wouldn't bet on it. But it would still be pretty wild.

Good point.  You're probably right.  Still doubt they don't figure out a workaround.

Yeah, I mean a whole lot would have to fall into place for that. And some of that would of course be objectively bad: I don't wish this virus on the Republicans or anyone.

But if, after RBG passes and Republicans try to ram a nominee through after what they did to Garland, you see a bunch of Republicans literally catch a modern plague and be unable to confirm her?

That's enough to make an agnostic man start believing there is a God.

Also: remember they likely lose Arizona November 3rd, that's one more. I don't put a lame duck nomination past McConnell, but I do wonder if it doesn't shed a couple of Republicans who see the writing on the wall after Trump loses.

😬

Yikes.

Some arly speculation was that warmer weather might help mitigate the spread. I think most wrote that off, but I hope that what we've dealt with the last 4 mos or so isn't a less aggressive virus now being charged up by flal weather.

I tend to think it's more about more group gatherings with school and people getting tired of hiding out. But something to watch.
