I know the healthcare system has said that they have the ability to expand capacity even further in hospitals, but I'm just a bit wary at what things will look like a month from now if the number of daily infections aren't curbed. Right now, Ontario is averaging more than double the amount of daily positive tests as it was during the first wave. The positivity rate yesterday was north of 5%. Not great. We are just across the river from you and are getting crushed also. Our positivity rate was at 3% in August and now is at 14%. I'd feel a lot less concerned if this was mid-January rather than mid-November.

I know who I'm hanging out with this winter, lol. We are finishing our basement bar and shopping wine coolers right now. I want a dual zone, but paco thinks the single is probably sufficient. Which type did you get and would you recommend it?

Montgomery is where she works. School Board doesn't even know if they are to follow State or Local recommendations. They tend to follow local more. It's ridiculous they just voted last night to go hybrid. We'll see if it happens. We're hoping not. It's just a whole lot of work to get ready for a switch, just to go back to virtual. They are pushing teachers to their limit.

My district (Council Rock) voted last week to go to 5 days! Such a wonderful call, especially considering the high school has had 37 cases thus far.

Which type did you get and would you recommend it? This is what I got: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frigidaire-52-Bottle-Capacity-Stainless-Steel-Wine-Chiller/1000436083 I highly recommend it, although it's no longer on sale. I got it for $200 off this price. Maybe it'll drop again for black Friday. You can easily drop much more than that full price, though, on an off-brand, but this one was a name brand that I trusted and it had good reviews. It's well-made: sleek design, nice materials, and a well-lit interior. It also seems very efficient, maybe only like an extra $3/mo. on my electric bill, and it holds the temperature well. The idea of a dual zone is nice, but when I was shopping things, it seemed that dual-zone coolers were really expensive, upwards of $1,000 in some cases. When I thought about it, it just didn't seem necessary, unless you're storing a variety of things in there, like beer and wine, and you want to keep certain items considerably colder. Some people want to store beer along with the wine, so a dual-zone is good for this if you have a lot of beer on hand. For me, though, I just keep a few beers in my fridge and reserve the chiller for wine only. My motivation was primarily to age wines long-term, and whether its red or white, the ideal temperature is in the range of 52-56 degrees (colder temps=slower, more gradual ageing.) I keep it at 54, which means my reds are right on temperature out of the cooler. You probably want to drink your whites about 10 degrees colder out of the bottle, but it's easy to just take it from the chiller and put it in your freezer for about 10-15 minutes to drop a white wine into drinking range. So, the short answer is YES, I love the product and trust the manufacturer, and NO, I don't think dual-zones are necessary, unless you're really snobby about your wine and/or want to store both wines and beers at ideal drinking temperatures in the chiller. Happy drinking!

I kind of want to get back to drinking a glass of quality wine an evening - both for the health benefits and because I enjoy it - as opposed to many glasses of cheaper stuff that makes me feel like crap for the poor quality and over-indulging. So in that sense, I think the single would be fine if I'm just using it for red wines, and storing any whites in the other fridge we have in the basement. I do also like the idea of the lock on it though for future kiddos, so the dual zone could be good for that. They are just so much more expensive.

Happy drinking! We actually looked at this one a couple of days ago.. agreed it looks nice and is one we are considering so thank you for confirming that it has worked well. I'm not worried about storing beer in the dual zone - we have a full size fridge in the unfinished part of the basement where that can go.. it's more about storing whites vs reds (or roses and bubblies) at the proper temp for length of time and then maximum enjoyment. But you make a good point that the whites can be chilled in the regular fridge just prior to serving if you like them colder. I think you just actually sold me on getting the single zone - which paco will appreciate lol.
November 11, 20204 yr I'm ok with a dual zone fridge. It's just that if we are leaving it with the wet bar and move within 5 years, I'd rather do the cheaper option.
November 11, 20204 yr Ok, so I'm wondering what the course of action should be here. Maybe @Phillyterp85 can advise. GF saw her mother last Monday (11/2) for a very brief period (~15 mins) without a mask in her home. Her mom's husband had been sick since Saturday (GF didn't know this, but the husband was not there at the time and had not been for a couple of days), and her mom started showing symptoms on Wednesday (11/4) and got tested on Saturday (11/7). As we expected, her mom's tests just came back positive today (11/11). It has been a full 9 days since my GF was exposed to her mother in the pre-symptomatic phase. Since she's already self-isolated for 9 of 14 days, is not showing symptoms, and since it seems to take a full week between scheduling a test and getting the results, would it be reasonable for her to just quarantine for another 5 days and stop after it's been a full two weeks on 11/17, provided she continues to show no symptoms? Or should she still be tested this far into quarantine, despite showing no symptoms and her exposure having been minimal?

I’m guessing the answer is going to be just continue to isolate for the full 14 days since you probably won’t get test results back prior to that anyway. Will get you an answer back when he responds.

Thanks, that's what I thought. We're pretty sure she's in the clear and it seems kinda pointless at this stage given the turnaround time on testing. The crazy thing is that her job told her to keep coming to work unless she herself was showing symptoms.

She sleeps in the spare room, I make all the meals and we eat separately. When we are in the same room, we wear masks. I've also been trying to just stay out of the house when I can. I think we've been managing it pretty well, but it seems to be wearing on her by this point. I'm just encouraging her to stay strong til next Tuesday.
November 11, 20204 yr @EaglesRocker97 CDC protocol would be just to quarantine for the full 14 days as long as she has no new exposure or symptoms.

Just a couple more days though and then you can go back to normal
