So, sad news about a guy I worked with years ago when I was in college and he was in high school. We coincidentally attended the same school but I think he was a freshman the year I graduated, so I didn't really know him in school. Anyway, while I didn't know him too well personally and hadn't seen him in over a decade, he was a fun, friendly guy and I definitely interacted with him a lot at work. We were friends on FB still after all this time, too. He actually ended up marrying the sister of one of my girlfriend's close friends from the time period, too, so he didn't feel like a very remote figure in any case. Anyway, I just heard the news today that he's dead from COVID at age 30.

That sucks, sorry.

I think you can’t read.

the headline literally:  As of now, Publix is only offering vaccine in Florida counties won by Republicans

Yes, it’s offered at Publix in 12 counties.  Those 12 counties happen to be counties that were red.  The headline, while technically correct, is misleading as Publix in those counties aren’t getting the vaccine because they voted republican.  They are getting the vaccine and happen to vote republican.  Below is a picture of the 2020 election and how the counties voted in Florida.  As you can see, there are far more than 12 counties that were red.  The reason those Publix in those 12 counties are getting the vaccine, as stated in the article, is because of the weaker hospitals in those areas.

Did any Publix in democratic counties get the vaccines because of weak hospitals though? 🤔

They didn’t, the article stated why those Publix were given the vaccine.  Again, only 12 of 67 counties have the vaccine at a Publix.  There are vaccines at other places (such as hospitals).  Those 12 counties were picked because of their weak hospital.  You’re reading a headline and stuck on something that happens to be true and then trying to come up with a reason.  You’re ignoring the reason that is given.

Think of it this way, let’s say the Eagles win 95% of the time that they run the ball 25 times.  It doesn’t mean running the ball 25 increases their chance to win, otherwise, why not just run on the first 25 plays?

Now you are just getting carried away with the eagles and running the ball

He just lost all credibility

Three samples of ice cream from a Chinese company tested positive for COVID-19, and thousands of boxes of the dessert have been confiscated as a result.

The contaminated ice cream caused Tianjin Daqiaodao Food Company to dump 2,089 boxes of the product, although officials believe more than double that amount -- 4,836 boxes -- has been contaminated, Sky News reported

Wow, we’ve lost a lot already but 2,089 boxes of ice cream is a damn shame.

In all seriousness though Ice cream is contaminated and can give you covid? What?

The study was conducted by researchers affiliated with Stanford University, and was co-authored by Jay Bhattacharya, a professor of medicine and economics who has been a vocal opponent of coronavirus lockdowns since March.

For additional context, other studies have oppositely determined that lockdown orders have effectively saved millions of lives.

A study published in the journal Nature by researchers at Imperial College London in June found that some 3.1 million deaths had been averted due to lockdowns across Europe early on in the pandemic.

@Kz!, How many times do you have to be B****-SLAPPED into realizing that you NEED TO CHECK THESE SOURCES??

We realize you've become a sad product of the massive lies and false facts that you've happily swallowed from Trump and his administration the last 5 years, but f, man!  Get some willpower!  Stop running to Twitter to find opinions of people who CONTINUE TO LIE TO YOU and think on your own for once!

So with all the other excitement I haven’t updated anything in here regarding Sweden. Here is a short summary.

The 2nd wave took quite some time to wane and it ended up close to the first one. Hospitals were put back under pressure but held. Deaths were below the first wave but close. The R-number has been below 1 for 4 of the last 5 weeks so it does look like it is ending now.

Public measures were upped to include recommended mask wearing in public transportation during rush hour (7-9 and 4-6). The few times I’ve traveled in those windows it looked like close to half had masks on. Alcohol is banned from sale after 8pm. Restaurants are shutting down just after 8 for the most part.

How did they get the swab up the nose of the ice cream?

I'm about a month and a 1/2 into quitting smoking after 20 years myself. Still have moments and days where I want to smoke but, Ive held off so far

keep it up!

6 years this May for me.  Best decision I ever made (that schmoopie encouraged me to do)

Yea, well I've never smoked, and I don't want worse lungs than a heavy smoker, SO WEAR A FIN MASK!

Thank you! Leaves more money for Costco lol. I do have a vape on hand in case sheet gets real intense but, for the most part I don't mess with that either. When I drink is the hardest part but, even that I can enjoy without losing my mind wanting a cigarette now.

Unfortunately it was my mom who stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated that made me not want to go through it myself. Seeing her basically chained to an oxygen tube for the rest of her life was enough for me to quit.

Drinking is the biggest challenge. I will still look for a smoke when boozing. I drink very infrequently, however; only in social settings. So I have basically been dry during the pandemic.

I made sure I had been past the biggest hurdle which was the first 3-4 days and then some before I even thought about picking up a drink. That is where I failed the first few times I tried to quit. I was trying to be one of those guys who only smoked when you drink. I found myself buying beer just to smoke lol.

I think I have a pretty good handle on it and like I said if it gets bad enough a couple of puffs from a vape and I'm fine.

I'm not sure how to go about getting those lol. Maybe on that topic is CBD a decent option? I've heard some good things and then I've heard they are useless.

If you are looking to get a buzz, they are worthless.

I was given 4 of the most powerful homemade edibles I have ever experienced this week. I ate a quarter of one the other day and was completely idiotic for hours. A guy I work with grows his own and uses it to make his own butter. I have gotten them from him before, but he must have measured wrong on this batch.

I make my own edibles (cookies, brownies, gummies and chocolates) and the THC content can wildly fluctuate from one to another. It's all about how well the cannabutter/RSO/grinded up weed is mixed into whatever you're making. Typically mine are pretty even, but every now and then you get one that makes you see through time.

You leave it in the butter? 😱

No if I'm doing cannabutter I strain it with cheesecloth.

There are some non-baking edibles like chocolates where you don't have to use butter... you can just use decarb'd weed that's been grinded up fine and mix it in with the melted chocolate.

That's a very good way to do it. For my part, my exercise regimen isn't what it used to be thanks to a couple or worn out discs in my lower back, and the COVID recovery is still ongoing, so at this point, I'm happy it's only 15 lbs. lol.

Yeah luckily when I started it was coming out that if you have too much crap on the back of your belt your lower discs would be shot, so I positioned my pouches accordingly, and had a glove pouch on the small of my back to act as a bad/light lumbar support.

Unfortunately my senior year of HS football I got two groin hernias that I never got taken care of and because my belt was front loaded I wore it tight, which only Fd my hips up more.

I quit smoking 11 years ago. Every now and again when I’m super stressed I’ll buy a pack but I usually don’t smoke the whole thing or if I’m drinking around people who are smoking I’ll smoke. What I used to quit was I bought dip and would pop a lip in whenever I got a craving and that helped me quit smoking.

Unfortunately I haven’t stopped dipping since, but hey at least I don’t smoke anymore.
