It is a bit disconcerting. Already had it in my mind just get thru winter til your turn. Problem is, folks are registering for phase 1a and it seems to me it’s a cluster f! Technically I could be eligible but I know there’s many more who need it before me. My niece at 32 weeks pregnant had to go to the next county My sister needs one, has heard nothing. Hopefully they’ll get their act together soon!

Chester county requested 150k doses and only got like 32000, have only administered half of that. And only about 650 have gotten second doses. and Fauci goes on record saying we need to vaccinate kids and that they might only need one dose. We can’t even get the high risk fully vaccinated and he’s talking about practice...I mean, kids.
February 2, 20214 yr It will take years to get the World vaccinated and most likely by that time it will have to be done again and then again, plus more variants. I can't see most people putting up with masks and social distancing forever, there will be riots. Don't remember where I heard it but it is projected that 1 Billion will be vaccinated by the end of the year, sounds great if you don't know the World's population. Not turned the corner? we won't see the corner in our lifetimes. Travel like it was is gone, you will need negative tests, masks, temp checks to go anywhere.

That wall Trump wants, it will be built, hatred towards illegals will skyrocket thanks to Fox News and other places pointing out every time a an Illegal spreads the virus. Economies will crumble, more people will be living in poverty, more laws throughout the world restricting freedoms. Sure right now many people are puttingn up with things because they think it is temporary but when everyone realizes it is not things will get bad.

When I'm really bored I'll let the call go through to a sales person and then I'll act like I'm trying to sell them life insurance. I never give them a single answer, only more questions about them and their family in the event something should happen to them. They usually tire of me and hang up. Otherwise everything goes to voicemail. I never answer if I don't know the person.

February 2, 20214 yr I think people are watching and following the news too much. Everyone needs to remember that the media will sensationalise headlines. Look at Dr Fauci's press conference yesterday. My friend messaged me to say that things are so bad and that there is no protection against the South African variant. That's not what he said at all. He actually said that the vaccine is not as effective against the strain but that it is still effective. That the vaccine greatly reduces hospitalizations and deaths which is ultimately the whole point in the vaccine. And that by getting the vaccine we can greatly reduce mutations.

We have to believe that because otherwise we will all just give up.

One - We manage to knock this thing out. That might take a couple of years but it is a very plausible outcome. Ultimately, we will be able to get the manufacturing and distribution issues solved enough to get ahead of the virus and knock it out. Two - We aren't able to take this thing out. Over time our adaptation will adjust and we will be able to develop a society that manages to reconcile the existence of the virus and its associated risks with a reasonable set of general conditions. Restaurants will open again and the economy will recover. Some things may be different but overall we will get an acceptable new normal. It might include measures that we take to limit the spread. Handshakes and hugs may become a thing of the past for example. Longer term I'm not worried at all.

We don’t need everyone in the world to be vaccinated all at once. While that would be great, obviously that isn’t happening. All that is needed to get life back to "normal” is for the vaccine to be able to reduce hospitalizations and deaths to the point where COVID is like the flu. Also, it is relatively easy for mRNA vaccines to be altered to account for new variants. I’m sorry you lost your job, that sucks man. I hope you are able to get your job back and soon.

What worries me most about the variants is the increase in transmissibility in them. The more the R0 increases the higher the cutoff gets to reach herd immunity or even any semblance of herd immunity. Seems like a pipe dream now.

It will never go away so dont wear masks, dont social distance. Live your life. You're going to get it eventually. It probably won't kill you when you do. If it does, it was your time. She just flew down to Florida for the second time in 2 months. Let's just say her and I strongly disagree on this attitude.
