Even if COVID hangs around for years in the form of an endemic disease, it will at least be manageable to the point where we don't have to live with the virus as an omnipotent, ever-present threat running roughshod over our healthcare system. Elimination may not yet be in sight, but true mitigation and control has not yet escaped our grasp. We need to keep vaccinating and masking, and we may yet still get this thing under control. With this in mind, your doomsday approach brings nothing to the table except potentially encouraging the ne'er-do-wells to keep doing nothing, and worse, encouraging those hanging on by a thread to give up entirely. The point is, you are not helping.

The Amish are pretty much in their own bubble. Other than going out among the English working everyday. Some of them anyway. Everyone wants everything yesterday and some camnot accept it. Still some unknowns but get vaccinated if you can. It is surprising to me the age group of new cases are young.

Of course Fox news and Abbott are going to spin it. Cases would go down in the warmer weather anyway like they did last summer, but they aren't really going down. Not to mention even if it were true that Texas is essentially beating covid by doing nothing, it destroys your "we are all going to die from Covidzzzzz" narrative. The weather is getting warmer in Texas and they are vaccinating hundreds of thousands of people a day so the numbers aren't spiking as high as they would have if Abbott had pulled this stunt in December. Studies show that even after the first dose, pfizer is 70% effective in preventing covid infection. In short, your Texas case proves that vaccines are working and the variants aren't a major problem. So give it a rest.

This is the mentality of someone charged with running the country for 4 years. Also interesting that Redfield escaped his wrath.

This is bad because you know eventually someone vaccinated will die and that is all the people like the CDC and WHO need to recommend masks forever, social distance forever, lockdowns when needed, and don't forget to pay for your yearly vaccine booster, this is not free forever. 1 hour ago, EaglesRocker97 said: Pro tip: If the only people coming to your defense in CVON are Kz and and mikemack, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. March 30, 20214 yr The entire situation with COVID is non optimal. Having a vaccine passport is just one more non optimal item. It is what it is though.

Would you like to compare to pre-vaccination days where when there was an outbreak at a long term care facility and the majority of people who caught it would need hospitalization?

Was pretty interesting -- makes you really appreciate the impossible situation Birx was in. Both Fauci and Redfield confirmed the driving force was PPE shortages -- they didn't want a run on masks from the public hoarding. Once they determined how wide spread the asymptomatic spread was, that cloth masks were effective, and that healthcare workers had supplies they changed the guidance. Not sure why you keep giving the clown the attention he so desperately desires. Back in January 2020, there was a story about a Chinese E.R. doc who got in serious trouble (ie. The Gestapo took him from his home) for "spreading panic" amongst his collleagues in a social media group messenger for claiming SARS was back with a vengeance. They "knew" it would behave this way, the only thing I can think is that they too lied a la Trump in order to reduce panic. While Trump was thinking about re-election/economic benefit, I don't excuse the CDC either even if it were to help cover a PPE shortage at hospitals. A lie is a lie. Trump should have enacted the EDPA and ramped up manufacturing. We are still importing more PPE from China than domestic manufacturing. 14 hours ago, vikas83 said: The other interesting thing was Redfield being very assertive that he believes this escaped from a lab. That a normal virus from nature wouldn't jump from animal to human and adapt to human to human transmission so easily. Given all the odd factors of this disease (mainly the asymptomatic spread), I'm starting to think he is right. I don't believe it was nefarious. I believe they were testing extremely lethal/contagious viruses because, if SARS/MERS have shown us anything, it is that these types of infections spread like wildfire. With China being so overpopulated, they need to study these things and grow them into evil **** to then get a grip on how to combat it. Unfortunately, because they pay their people like a communist ish-hole does, this is what we get. Someone sold a bat to market and boom, started a global pandemic.
