so our stupid-a$$ school board got very political over the last few weeks.

a couple weeks back, as the most recent regular school board meeting was drawing to a close, one of the "Trump-butthurt" members made a motion to change the leadership. This was a "surprise" to at least some of the board, but it passed of course because they had prepared to do so beforehand.

the big deal there is that the board leadership can call emergency sessions. which they did, for last night.

after a bunch of fugging morons spoke, many of whom don't even have kids in the district, about things like "masks are child abuse" the board voted to lift the mask mandate for ALL students for the last 5 days of school next week.

this actually goes against the state's policy, so I don't even believe they have the authority to lift this. but I doubt there's time between now and monday for that to matter, which is exactly what this power grab was designed to do.

so they perform a hostile takeover of board leadership, ram through a change that impacts ALL students, including those who are at risk, all to override the mask mandate for five frigging days

these people are idiots, and I see this coming back to bite them in November. that of course depends on the voters, but we'll see.

I'm debating just pulling our kids for the last week. not that I'm overly concerned about COVID, just to protest stupidity.

Kids without masks for an entire 5 days! The horror!

Criticize him all you want, but if you're spending just as much time making them as he is watching them, you're just as bad.

My point was, how does he stay gainfully employed when he spends his entire life watching hour plus long conspiracy theory videos.  Some of the flat earth video links he posts are 2 plus hours long.

Solid comment/advice.  I think we're all interested in your opinions about how we raise our children.

The question we have is about the kids. The risk is low, though non-zero if course. But risk is part of life. And I don't want to pull the kids and have them miss their last week of school with friends.

On the other hand, these idiot parents (and non-parents) actually created a PAC to get this done. They dedicated the last few months of their sorry lives working to get one week of a dropped mandate in our district.

They're pathetic.

If your kids aren't on board with it, it's not worth it, imo. If they are looking for an early start to the summer, then that's different.

I fixed the minor typo.  Point is, when someone tells a story about their kids, they're not interested in the opinion of a childless, lonely troll.

Just tell them to wear their masks, even if it means the majority of their classmates won't. That's what we plan on doing for the fall until they're vaccinated.

l understood your point. I was making fun of you for typing "our long videos" instead of "hour."

That wasn't really a story about his kids so much as it was a story about him having a whiny hissy fit over a mask policy. lmao

Usually you make it longer into the day before you resort to grammar and spelling police.

Did derailing your white hate thread with sandwich talk hurt your little feelers.

People tend to take precautions to keep their kids safe.  I know the concept of having people in your life that you care about and that care about you is foreign to you, but it's not uncommon.

Yeah, and mask mandates have proven to be pretty worthless and kids are barely affected by coronavirus anyway. So it kind of just came off as jon sounding like a giant pu**y. I'm sure if he's concerned his kids can still double to triple mask if they want. This just allows the kids who don't like wearing the mask to take it off, right?

Right, for 5 days.  It sounds like right-wing virtue signaling by attention whoors.

Get enough parents to join you and watch how quickly they walk back that decision

Right, and jon's whining is similar left-wing virtue signaling.

Here's what's going to happen. Schools are going to reopen at the end of summer with no mask mandates in place. Obviously, coronavirus will still be a thing unless Trump's vaccine truly is a miracle worker. jon will send his kids back anyway without a second thought because the absence of a mask mandate will just be accepted as normal and will no longer be seen as a political wedge issue. jon's feelings won't be hurt because he won't view the decision as a win for those awful right-wing parents.

Kids are still spreading covid, and its still dangerous to kids. 5 days isn't worth the risk, but that's just me.

No it's not.  Jon's concerned about the safety of his children, obviously.  It's pretty standard stuff for parents.

Removing a mask mandate for 5 days, on the other hand, does absolutely nothing for anyone's safety.  It's an embarrassingly political temper tantrum performed by, let's face it, the dumbest group of people that have likely ever graced this earth (and I'm including early men here who were little more than upright chimps) and done to impress equally as stupid people like yourself.  I can tell you're very impressed though, so mission accomplished!

This may still be an issue in the fall.   Kids can't learn (little ones anyway) to read and write with a mask on.  They need the visual aspect.  You can't get that wearing a mask in class.

We are all thankful that you do not have children.

My son has been wearing a mask all year. He's knocking it out of the park. A piece of cloth on their face is not a big deal to children, its only a big deal for their idiot parents.

I am vaccinated, and still wear a mask, and my new "Vaccinated AF" mask will be here Friday.  Already triggering the Trumpers at work by talking about being vaccinated while wearing a mask.

We'd be talking about a couple months at most in the fall. Once they can get vaxxed, mask mandates become far less critical. The rate of community spread will inform the risk though and the numbers in August/September should still be fairly low.

Yeah, the idea that one of his kids would become seriously ill from coronavirus because a mask mandate was lifted for 5 days is not one that is based in reality. It’s a temper tantrum because someone he perceives as right wing got their way.

And to reiterate, there will be no mask mandate in schools in the fall despite the fact that coronavirus will still be a thing, and Jon will not have a problem with it because it will no longer be seen as a political issue.
