If the vaccine keeps people out of the hospital though it’s working. 2). The slower people are to get vaccinated the more opportunities the virus has to mutate 3) Wearing a mask is still an effective way to avoid getting sick or getting other people sick. And the vaccine hasn’t been approved yet for kids under 12 Points one and two are good ones. I am not convinced of point three. The best preventative(s) in order are to wash your hands, keep your hands out of your face, and get the vaccine. Mask - meh. And of course if you are not feeling well - you should stay the hell home - as should have been the case for years rolling up to the pandemic of 2020

There isn't really anything definitive on this subject that I've been able to find but what seems likely to me is that at some point in the curve you get a situation where vaccinated people start to enable variants due to the entire training and viral competition aspect BUT then if the vaccinated numbers get high enough it goes the other way. In the end the best solution is a quick knockout thru the vaccine if we can get there quick enough to squash the variants. In any case, it is imperative that science continues to look into improvements and other solutions. Shutting that thought process down by calling people quacks, etc. isn't a positive or productive measure. Weinstein's problem was his quick and aggressive pro ivermectin stance rather then proceed with caution. His assertion that ivermectin needed to be seriously considered was sound though and he should have left it at that. I'm going to go and see if I can track down exactly what he said and when. Yeah, still not ready to admit he's an antivaxer? It's fine, I enjoy this more when you dig your heels in. Better exposes you for the fraud that you are. But, I know, I know, both sides!

July 31, 20214 yr Guest on Real Time had the best idea yet. Stop offering $100 to the cult members to get vaccinated. Make the offer to their leader. Tell Trump he gets $100 for every person who gets vaccinated and tells the nurse that Trump convinced him/her. Vaccination rates will skyrocket in a week. Trump has zero principles and his people have no brains. Buy him and he will convince them.
July 31, 20214 yr So I spent some time looking at ivermectin and then also BretW's take. Ivermectin - Plenty of stuff out there and smaller scale RCTs but no conclusions given the data to date. Those that suggest they can conclude something (like BretW) do so based on meta analysis. There are some larger trials ongoing right now including one at Oxford University in England so hopefully those can shed some light. In any case, the smaller studies plus the operational data that does exists does seem to indicate that ivermectin may very well be a tool in COVID treatment but again there is no substantial evidence one way or the other. BretW on ivermectin - He has definitely been way too quick and aggressive here. Just plain sloppy. The positive part is his push to continue with impartial review of alternate medications such as ivermectin and he's no doubt correct in asserting that those aren't always getting a proper review given today's context. The big negative is a combination of his own personal conclusions based solely on the meta analysis approach plus his very bad decision to discuss these items on Tucker's show which was absolutely reckless given today's climate. He's heading down a bad path here even if he turns out to be right longer term. BretW on vaccines - Bret is overwhelmingly positive to vaccines describing them as "a medical miracle". He also describes mRNA as an incredibly effective and powerful approach with super long-term general potential and describes the current mRNA COVID vaccines as "effective" and "remarkable". He's no anti vaxxer generally but rather a historical vaxxer. On the other hand, he is cautious toward current use of mRNA vaccines from a longer term safety perspective given how new they are and he points to several things that mRNAs don't do as intended. One example is that the vaccines don't stay at the injection site as they should by design. He gives several other examples of the vaccines not behaving as designed. The other thing Bret has talked about is the stuff in the CNN article that Rocker posted regarding how variants are affected by vaccination rates. Note: Bret was also one of the ones out there talking possible Wuhan Lab leak back when it was considered right wing conspiracy type thinking.

July 31, 20214 yr Right, so Bret's not anti-vax, he just refuses to get vaccinated during the worst pandemic in a century. Got it.

The statistics show everyone who received a "shot” vs "placebo” and it was 44,000 people they studied. Has nothing to do with whether the people got COVID or died from COVID. Basically states that the vaccine has little to no effect on the potential "side" issues listed.

And unfortunately, it’s obvious at this point that it’s not just "radical” Trump supporters that refuse to get vaccinated. The left needs to begin to admit that a good % of their followers refuse to get vaccinated as well.
