This is in reference to just COVID cases, not severe ones.

The 40% was debunked a while back as there was a flaw in the stats. It is over 80% against delta if vaccinated. That’s the official Israeli number. Of course the situation is still very fluid.

People should not be freaking out because we're catching COVID. As long as people who are vaccinated aren't dying we should be business as usual. Those who have chosen to be unvaccinated have made their decision. The only true victims in all of this are the immunocompromised and healthcare workers.

According to the current data the risk with delta for vaccinated individuals is very low and if they do get sick there is almost no chance of it being serious unless the person has underlying risks. Of course there are some rare exceptions.
August 2, 20214 yr Just got back from vacation in New England. Anecdotal, but I don't think masking is going to make a comeback. Even in liberal New England, and even after the CDC said to mask up again, virtually no one was wearing them and very few places even asked people to mask up. I also noticed how short staffed hotels and restaurants were. Some places told us up front they only had a few people working.

In PA for a basketball tournament this weekend and a few restaurants had signs saying they were short staffed as well.

I feel like New England is behind the rest of the country when having to deal with the surge in cases. Once delta arrives and their cases go up, I think they'll begin to act differently. Locally, it was a weird weekend. Half the neighborhood masked, half didn't. We're even back to people wearing facemasks improperly with their noses sticking out. Why are they even trying anymore?

August 2, 20214 yr The only people who should be wearing masks are the unvaccinated. You know, the people that haven’t been wearing masks this whole time…

Seeing plenty of people with them on outside as well, which is nuts. I have mine in my pocket -- if I go into a place that requires a mask, I put it on. It's still the wrong policy. Make the unvaccinated bear the risk. No vaccine, no insurance coverage. Freedom comes with consequences.

If I got to wear one to set an example in public, fine. It's harmless.
August 2, 20214 yr The mask mandates are really only for the unvaccinated, but since you can’t tell who is vaccinated and who is not, everyone has to do it. This is the classic example of a few people doing something bad and now everyone has to pay for it. Like when a few people decided to throw snowballs at Santa Claus…
