Thank you.  My son is better now, it was minor.  He had an ear infection that hurt but the antibiotics worked within a couple hours.  I'm just keeping him entertained while in quarantine (we built legos, made a cardboard drum set, played all the board games, movies, etc.)  My wife is slower to get better and her symptoms have changed from one thing to the next but still not severe.

I'll qualify my 25% further: this was at a store that is on the edge of very blue Doylestown Borough and some much redder outlying areas here in Bucks County. 

I typically go to a store closer to me in a redder area, and I would bet that store had fewer masks.

Thanks.  I work at home anyway so still busy with work, plus taking care of the patients and the house.  One "benefit" to my son being sick is he's lower energy and will take naps or cuddle on the couch watching tv.  But now he's feeling better and looking for things to do.  We built a blanket and pillow fort in his room, made a drum set (a quiet one made of cardboard thankfully).  Played every board game we have.  Letting him have extra TV time and video games that keeps him occupied.  We watched The Mitchell's vs the Machines yesterday on Netflix it was about cell phone technology rising up to enslave humans.

I don't understand it either, maybe they just don't tell patients and they have a way of studying further to know if it's delta or not?  My wife got tested on her own and I took my son to the pediatrician.  both just said you tested positive and gave no other details.  They were very nonchalant about it and just said the symptoms should go away in 4-5 days and you have to quarantine for 10 days, come back if it gets severe.  Just take over the counter meds and fluids.  Their casual attitude was like you have the flu or strep throat, no big deal.  They must be used to it by now.

Good article. Few thoughts. 

1. Walensky is just an epic disaster. She immediately goes full alarmist pretty much every time. They should really sideline her from public communications on this. Fauci is the best, but political stupidity has made him the wrong person as well. They need a new, consistent spokesperson who can calmly focus on reality.

2. The reality is simple -- we are here because morons refuse to get vaccinated. For political reasons the administration is shying away from simply calling this out -- frankly, the governor of Alabama did a much better job. While there is some vaccine hesitancy among more traditional Democratic groups (minorities in particular), the largest driving factor is MAGA morons. Newsflash Joe -- these people think you are a pedophile who drinks the blood of babies. They'll never vote for you. Stop worrying about upsetting them, or what Tucker Carlson may say on his show. The administration needs to come out and forcefully place the blame where it belongs -- on unvaccinated people and those feeding them misinformation (right-wing Media, MAGA politicians). Reach out to McConnell, President Bush, etc. -- get any and all prominent Republicans to join this.

3. Create consequences. No vaccine, no Medicaid or Medicare. Let private insurers deny unvaccinated people. Ban them from all federal facilities, airplanes, etc. 

4. Applaud businesses that begin demanding proof of vaccine and create a national vaccine passport to help them.

It's time to go on offense against stupidity.

While I agree with you, and would like to see that policy implemented, I'm not sure that would be legal, as those unvaccinated with Health Insurance would have a legal claim to make.

There's not jack ish they can do about Medicare and Medicaid, and most insurers have rules saying they can change coverage for just about any reason. Worst case they change the plans when they expire (usually every year). 

None of this matters, though. That would take years for the courts to decide. In the meantime, the threat alone will spur behavior. Have the Federal Government indemnify private insurers and announce it. By the time people "win" in court, they will already have been denied care.

When my wife was getting tested weekly they’d swab, test, and throw away the kit. I doubt they save the positive tests and send them anywhere.  It’s likely they take this delta variant info from severe cases that result in hospitalization and ICU stays so of course there seems to be a high percentage of delta variants in the hospital, But they make it sound like there’s a wild new uncontrollable strain killing hundreds of people in the toilet paper aisles every day

The unvaxxed only publicity stunt is paying off big time for that owner. Lmao you love to see it.

Love the tax incentive idea. Tax credits for businesses that require vaccination proof. 

If only we have tied the 2nd round of PPP to requiring vaccination proof starting 10/1.
